"I don't see why you're still coming here. You're lucky that I'm still willing to open this place up to you."

Ferry was sitting on the leg-press machine watching as I got into a rhythm with the speed bag. I had boxing equipment in my home gym but... Well, home wasn't my favourite place in the world at the moment.

"I... enjoy... seeing you," I grunted, making a mistake with my footwork that meant I had to stop and start all over again at a slower pace. I had no idea how long I'd been here but sweat was trickling down from my temples and down my back.

Ferry guffawed. "If you cared anything about me, you wouldn't drag me into this stinkin' school during the holidays."

I halted the bag and wiped my brow. "You're right, I hate you, you remind me of school life." I turned towards him and grinned. "You must be excited. You've got a bunch of first years coming in for a trial week next month."

He let his head fall back against the chair, his expression a mix of frustration and disgust. "It's a fuckin' trial for ME. You get all the guys thinking they know better than me and that they can use weights that're ten times too heavy for 'em. And then the girls who stand in one corner and gossip all day... Of course sometimes it's the other way 'round."

I snorted. "Yeah, I bet when you first started, you were one of the ones chatting in the corner."

"Kids have no respect," he muttered and got up, twisting to stretch his back. "Are you done? Can I go home?"

"Just let me kick the shit out of the bag for a few minutes." I unwrapped the strapping from my hands, flexing them to ease the stiffness.

He huffed and rolled his eyes like one of the teenage girls he'd been talking about. "I'm not gonna hold it for you. I remember last time... Well, me stomach remembers it a little better. I felt winded for a week!"

"You're a real tough guy, Ferry." I grinned, shaking my head.

I arrived back at Garth's place just as Liam's car pulled up. I was disappointed when he was the only one to get out. He nodded to me in greeting.

"I hear you had a pretty bad end to last night," he said casually, locking his car and leaning against the driver side door.

"Yeh," I grunted, "Let's discuss this inside." I approached the door, Liam a few steps behind me. I reached for the handle and heard Larkin's voice clearly.

"You're pretty tense, these muscles are hardly loosening up."

I froze for a moment. He couldn't be... Shit, if he was getting all touchy feely with Dizelde not only would I kill him for not, just this once, toning down the player instincts within him, but I'm sure that Liam would make sure that he went straight to hell. I shoved open the door.

"Lark, do you remember the warning I gave you only two weeks ago? If you don't quit bothering me by the count of three, I will go through with it. One."
