Once there was a maiden
Beautiful as a pure white dove
She found her dearest by the sea
Where all seafarers rove
"Let me seek for fortune"
"O'er the sea to a distant land"
Said he who holds the maiden's heart
And he went o'er the sand
"I shall listen for thee"
"For thou is the love of my life"
But on the voyage a storm struck
His ship sailed into strife
And the youth from the sea
Was returned to the place he came
So the damsel searched but found nought
"He is dead!" she proclaimed
"Alas, life is no more!"
"I vow to seek 'til he is found!"
"Through all rain, hail and sleet, I will!"
While her grief was profound
The Fairies pitied her
They let him return for a spell
The maiden sensed him by her side
But he returned to whence he dwell
"Curse the world and the Fay!"
"You let me lose him once again!"
And so she died, prostrate with grief
Once in Death did they gain.
