The Only Exception (H. Styles/ Bwwm)

Chapter One

"Well, the first round of drinks are on me. Can't believe we actually got the whole group here" Mae said excited making me freeze up and look over at her confused. "The whole gang?" I questioned and she nodded smiling hard.

"Shawn, Travis, Gary, Wyatt, and Harry. Harry just moved back here officially today" she said and I stopped dead in my tracks. I was already nervous to see the guys after being MIA for so long but, knowing Harry was here made it that much worse.

Been a bit over four years since I last seen him. Wasn't the best terms either.

As they drug me over to the table the guys got up ready to engulf us in hugs. I smiled giving every single one of them a hug and just saying something stupid laughing but when I saw him, I was frozen. I was literally speechless as our eyes met.

I wasn't sure if I should give him a hug or say anything but to my surprise, he walked over and gave me one of the biggest bear hugs ever even picking me up and swinging me around.

I didn't know what to do and I'm pretty sure I sounded nervous laughing but... I didn't know what to do. I didn't even expect to say anything better yet, get picked up and swung around as if we were best friends again. Thought that was over since that night at my house.

I took a deep breath on the way back to look up to actually take him in. Same beautiful green eyes as before, with the cute dimples and crooked smile. He looked a bit more mature in his face but, nothing drastic.

Jesus.

"How are you?" The accent made me tense up a bit. It's been so long since I've heard that. I just smiled "Great and how are you?" I asked and he shrugged.

"Can't complain. Things have been really good. Just happy to finally be home you know?" He asked and that kind of surprised me. He was happy to be home? I thought he wanted away from this place.

"I guess. How was your trip?" "Amazing. Have to show you the pictures one of these days I was speechless at the sites that I saw. Renny you would have loved it" he said excited making me smile and beyond happy that enjoyed himself that much. He deserved it.

I couldn't understand how he was so calm and acted as if nothing happened that night. I couldn't stop thinking about it. His face, his expression... it was overwhelming me. But, I guess we just had to leave it in the past and start over. If it was possible... things have changed. Permanently changed.

"Lauryn where the hell have you been? You had a baby and you disappeared. I thought maybe you moved away or something" Jesus joked making everyone laugh as we sat in the booth taking the shots Shayna bought. Harry sat next to me smiling and I just returned it trying to relax. I needed a few drinks right now.

I looked back to Jesus smiling "Wasn't intentional, just happen. All the time I used to have a going out and just hanging with you guys went to her. I'm sorry" I smiled making him. shrugging. "Can't be mad at you taking responsibility, I respect you for that" he smiled.

Harry leaned over to me "Gabby right?" Harry asked and I nodded shifting in my seat a bit. I didn't want to really get on the subject of Gabby for certain reasons but, I couldn't help but, feel happy as Mae and Shay spoke about how amazing she was.

Proud mommy moment.

"You want a drink?" Harry and I nodded ready to get up when he stopped me putting a hand on my thigh smiling. "I got it, what do you want?" He asked and I just shrugged smiling "Surprise me"

After he got up going to the bar I just listened in on the conversations going on between us. I had no intake because I really didn't know what they were talking about but I nothing else to do.
