Chapter One

Fuck it.

"Two hours-" I sighed pulling the phone away from my ear hearing her squeal in excitement.

"Two hours is fine, I have to tell Shayna you're actually coming this time. The guys are gonna be so excited to see you after these years" I chuckled rolling my eyes. Maybe I could change this whole situation.

"You're the designated driver tonight too" "Deal. See you later" she said hanging up leaving me there in silence. Damn, I was hoping it would work and she'd change her mind. Does it even matter? I'm still going to be watching over everyone there.

"Any plans tonight Lauryn?" I jumped turned to see Tyler behind me smiling. The young, and flirty guy that wouldn't leave me alone since he started working here a year ago.

He was cute but, I wasn't interested. He was twenty-one, still in his immature phase and couldn't take a hint.

"Yeah hangout with some friends from college. Been a few years. You?" I could tell he was a little disappointed in that answer but just shrugged. "Not really sure, was thinking of going to a movie but, I don't think that's going to happen" meaning he was trying to ask me out but, my plans just stopped it.

"I'm sure someone will go with you, just ask around" I said simply and he nodded. "Maybe another time" he smiled then left my cube. All of the girls that work in here and you continue to flirt with me after I made it obvious I'm not interested. When would he get it?

"Mommy I like your outfit, you look beautiful" Gabby said leaning on the door frame as I put some lipstick on. I smiled looking over at her winking. Just a leather jacket, white and dark blue jeans with boots, nothing too much.

"Thank you baby, you have everything packed for tonight?" She smiled nodding before running to grab her bag and bring it to me.

"Book, game, snack, pajamas, toothbrush and The Little Mermaid" she said smiling and I nodded. I was jealous. I wish I could just stay home and watch The Little Mermaid with her. It was our favorite Disney princess. Unfortunately, I didn't have a choice, I already agreed and it was too late to cancel now.

A few minutes later, Mae was beeping her horn and we were off. We dropped off Gabby at Mrs. Watson's house and headed to the bar. "I got us a booth so we can be there a little bit early and all just catch up for a bit before getting fucking up" she cheered making me look over to her with a warning glare.

"I'm kidding mom, can you relax a bit" she laughed as I rolled my eyes shaking my head. "Having a kid really did change you, you were all for drinking, partying and just having a great time and now you just like to stay home and sleep" "Because that's all I have time for. Work, Gabby, sleep" I said simply smiling.

I enjoyed it. Just me and my mini-me.

The atmosphere that I used to love just didn't seem to excite me anymore. Seeing people drinking and already stumbling made me shake my head. It was only nine at night. There was no telling how they would be in two hours.

I looked around at the booths and froze seeing Shayna jump up running over to us as quick as she could. I giggled opening my arms as she nearly knocked me over. Seems like forever since I've actually hung out with her. We've chatted on the phone and texted a bit but, we haven't hung out in a few months. We were never really free the same times.

"My party buddy is back" "Only for tonight Shay. She goes back to super mom tomorrow. So we got to get her fucked up tonight" Mae said smirking mischievously and we busted out laughing. Shay grabbed my hand pulling me into the booth.
