After the ball Victoria sat in her new room. Staring into the mirror across from her bed. Waiting for Miss Florence to undo her corset. Fiddling with her hands in her lap as she got more and more impatient. Finally , Miss Florence bounded through the door towards Victoria.
"Sorry Miss Teller. The Court pulled an emergency meeting about the future of the family now King Francis wants to step down." Miss Florence says and takes hold of the ribbon in the corset beginning to undo it
"What was said and why was I not invited." Victoria questions and Miss Florence sighs
"No ladies of the family are allowed at the court meeting. They say its about superiority and its easier to make decisions. " Miss Florence says
"How do you know then Miss Florence." Victoria pressed lightly
"Mr Gillingham told me." Miss Florence states pulling the corset off of Victoria
"What did they discuss then?" Victoria pressed further as she stepped out of her petticoat leaving her in her underdress
"The court ruled Francis and you will need to be married by the end of the week. They believe leaving the family in uncertainty will not work in our favour." Miss Florence says picking out a night dress from Victoria's wardrobe.
"But , I am not ready for such a commitment. The court will have to wait the family will be fine." Victoria states taking the dress from Miss Florence's hands
"The courts rule is final Miss Teller. Ladies in waiting have no say." Miss Florence says taking the night dress back off of Victoria helping her to dress.
"does a soon to be Queen have any say?" Victoria questioned
"Only a Queen. Which is what you will become when you are married. The wedding date is a week tomorrow." Miss Florence ends the conversation leaving Victoria in shock.
Next week. A wedding to Francis next week. Victoria was hoping to court Francis for a while. They had three years till the next crown war. take it slow get married in a year , year and a half to stabilise the monarchy ready for the war. But the court has other ideas since Francis made it quite clear that he no longer wanted to be head of the country now his best friend's killer had been found. He wanted to marry Victoria so she would rank higher than him as Queen and she would take the reign of the house and he would be by her side. That in his mind was the best idea for the house. The best for the family. But for Victoria she felt rushed and still panicked from what had happened not that long ago with the Valois man. But as they said she had no choice. So , onwards they moved to the wedding she hadn't expected to come so soon after he asked her.
