Scappatelle Sleepover

It took an hour before they reached Tagaytay. It was already past nine in the evening. They talked some trivial things about each other until they have reached their destination. They decided to eat dinner at Boutique Bed and Breakfast.  They wanted to try their bouillabaisse soup and seafood platter and their volcanic wings.  Maine is a die hard of seafood especially shrimps. 
"So, how many times have you been here to know your way around?" RJ asked Maine as they started eating.
"Hmmm, maraming beses na.  City getaway namin ang Tagaytay.  At madalas pustahan kami who will get to choose the accommodation kasi talagang takot ako sa mga creepy stories about sa hotels!" Maine explained enjoying the unshelled shrimp given to him by RJ...
Natutuwa si RJ na wala talagang Arte si Maine.  Imagine, this establishment is known to cater for elites pero siya low profile lang... There is this elegance in her na even elites can't compare.  "Mahal, medyo curious lang, what happened to your childhood para maging cynical ka pagdating sa itsura mo? Sobra mo kasing laitin ang sarili no at Hindi ka naniniwala na maganda ka talaga beyond words?" RJ asked all of a sudden, he knows her story through Sam and Nico, but he wants it on Maine's POV.
"Well, for starters, I was on my 2nd  grade when that happened.  I was playing at the playground then, all by myself.  And then two young boys, my classmates, to say it obviously, approached me.  Well, teachers known me for being always wanting to be myself.  And apparently, they find it weird kaya siguro they were curious of how I get by myself.  When they came near me, they checked me out, as if doing an x-ray of some bugs.  And since i was not that fair-skinned unlike them, they asked me why.  I answered, I dont that either.  They laughed at it and then went away.  I just ignore them.  On the next day, I didn't know that they surveyed Nanay and Kuya Nico.  They are more fair-skinned than me.  Mas maputi sila kumpara sa amin ni Tatay.  And I am more bumbayin look than them.  And that's where " ampon" came from.  I didn't know at first what ampon meaning was.  I asked Yaya Pe and they told me... I did not tell them where did I learn that word.  And I dont tell them, so as they taunt me, I also observed this and that and compare myself to Nico until it came up in full circles.  Nanay and Tatay reprimand them and told them not to come near me again.  I was glad of that.  But things happen and those two are the worst bullies I have ever met.  They twisted the story and other children dont come near me ever again as if I have plague.  At hindi pa dun natapos yun, they called me names such as undin, halimaw, pangit aming others.  I endure that for one year and decided to swith school because of that... I have come naman to accept na hindi ako maganda kasi I have overcome it already but on my tender years, I have come to believe I am a monster ampon!" Maine said, looking but never seeing, maybe "seeing" it in her memory.  RJ held her hands...
"Mahal, believe when I say you are not only beautiful outside but inside as well.  I dont want you to change anything about you.  I love you because you are Nicomaine Dei Mendoza and not anyone.  Believe me when I say my heart only knows you and it will like that forever! I am sorry that I was not their during our tender years to protect you but I am here now and I will stay with you no matter what!" RJ said.
"Thank you and you know what that made me stronger and that mold me the best person I could be.  I am not perfect, but I am true to myself!" Maine said, a tear drop from her eyes, crying for the helpless child she once has been.  But with RJ's words, all the pain was emptied and washed all the pain for the child she has been.
RJ, can no longer contain his overwhelming feelings, come near her and hugged her.  He wanted to assure her that never will she cry like that again and no one will be able to do that to her again! Ever!
They were still in their own thoughts, when they both heard text messages from their phones...

"Mendoza, I texted RJ to get both of you a room.  Sam and Joyce decided to have a sleep over at the Faulkerson's residence as it was insisted by Lola Linda.  Behave, okay?" - Nick

"RJ, me, Sam and Joyce will be invading your place tonight as your Lola insisted.  Reward for making sure that no untoward incident will happen at your restaurant and also for protecting you from those bastards.  Behave or else... - Nico

"Ummm, RJ??" Maine said.
"Do we received the same message?" RJ wanted to confirm.
"What did Nico told you?" Make wanted to make sure if they are on the same page...
"That the "trio" will be occupying our space and we need to moved out for one night!" RJ explained trying to sound casual. 
"Nakakainis, ikaw yung may-ari ng bahay ikaw yung itsapwera! Ang kakapal ng face! Makakatikim talaga sa akin yang tatlong yan!" Maine said slightly irritated.
"Wala ka yatang bilib sa persuasion power ni Lola e... Believe me, Maine! When Lola's mind is set into something, she will have it.  She has this power to bend even those who are so corrupted!" RJ said.
"Sabagay, pero paano ka? I could get my own room here!" Maine said.
"Parang pinapaalis mo ako e!" RJ pouted, complaining.
"Hindi naman sa ganun kaya lang...!" Maine said.
"Kaya lang, Nico will want us to share in the same room kasi you will not be able to sleep alone.  Nahihiya ka pa sa akin, e naikwento no na yan db? May pustahan pa nga kayo e!" RJ said.
"Pero...!" Maine started to complain.
"Walang pero-pero... We can share a room, have you heard a double bed suite? We could do that... At least I can be your guard.  At para hindi na rin ako nag-alala na hindi ka komportable dahil takot ka!" RJ said.
Maine surrendered, bilang totoong takot siya.  Medyo secluded din kasi yung area kaya napa-paranoid na siya... But still she needs to be the one to have the last say...
"Hindi ka ba nag-aala na gapangin kita?" Maine said trying hard to sound naughty but in a second burst out laughing as she saw the red creeping from RJ's neck to his whole face.
"Pakshet! Ang gwapo lalo!" Maine said inwardly...
"Sus, bakit ka gagapang kung pwede namang tabihan na lang kita, hindi ka pa nahirapan! Promise, walang rape, kasi lahat ng gagawin mo may consent!" RJ retaliated and do we need to ask more kung sino ang mas nagkulay makopa!  Hahahaha...
