"Hollie! Hollie look at me! We'll be fine! You'll be fine! Everyone will forget about it! Hardly anyone was in there anyway okay?" She took my hands away from my body and placed them on my side before putting her own hands on my face to make me focus on her. She wiped me tears and smiled. "It'll be fine, I promise."

"I need to see Ashton," I announced suddenly. He was the only person I could ever think of that made me smile, even when I didn't want to. He made me feel better. I felt old tears dry as newer ones ran down my face and I wiped them away.

"I'll cover for you last lesson," she sighed. I hugged her tightly.

"Please don't tell anyone? Especially the boys? If they ask anything about what happened-"

"I'll tell them she was lying because she's a jealous lying bitch," she spoke as if she was reciting a poem or something.

"I love you," I whispered to her quickly before placing my bag back over my shoulder, as it had fallen off in my rush, and continued on my journey to go and find Ashton.

Once I was off of the school grounds I pulled my phone out of my pocket and rung Ashton. He answered within the first ring.

"Hollie? Are you okay? Oh my god I've been so worried! Where have you been? What happened? Wait are you in school?" The bombardment of questions should have irritated me but it did the opposite. It took my mind off of things for a moment and I got absorbed into the world of Ashton.

"Ash I need to see you," I said ignoring his questions, he would get his answers when I got to him.

"Do you want me to pick you up after school?" he asked.

"No, I'm out now, I'm almost at the café where I work, meet me there? I promise I'll explain everything," I said. It was more of a question than a statement but I didn't care.

"Sure I'll be there in 5, try not to die without me," he joked, I knew he was trying to make me feel better and it worked. I smiled.

"Well you better hurry up then..." I mocked before hanging up on him. I smiled as I walked into the café to see a surprised coworker.

"You're not on today are you?" Jess asked from behind the counter. I shook my head.

"I'm just meeting my... friend," I said realizing that Ashton and I weren't actually a thing yet. I didn't know what we were, we were friends but we were so much more. It was complicated.

"Aren't you meant to be at school? Have you been crying?" she pressed on.

"Enough with the fucking questions, I'm meeting my friend then leaving okay?!" I snapped. She looked at me shocked before nodding and returning to work. I realized m appearance must have been awful so I quickly put some makeup on and fixed my hair.

"Hollie?" I heard a familiar voice call from behind me. I spun myself around and flung into his arms, not caring about anyone around me. I just wanted to feel safe for the first time that day.

"Hey."

"Hey? Is that all I get? I've been going out of my mind all day! I didn't know where you were, if you were okay, what had happened. Just because I've known you for like 2 weeks doesn't mean I can't worry when I hear you go mysteriously missing at school." I smiled at his sudden worrying over me.

"Ash I'm fine now! I promise I am! I had no idea Kaela would call you or say anything, I just needed to get out," I explained.

"What? Kaela didn't call me," he said furrowing his eyebrows. Well if Kaela didn't then who did?

"What? Wait... Who called you then?" I asked him completely confused.

"Calum did, well he was on Luke's phone but Calum let me know that you had run off and he just asked if I was with you, when we found out you weren't we started to get a little panicky," he explained.

"Oh well I just got a bit stressed that's all," I said to him. I don't know why I was avoiding telling Ashton but I just wasn't ready I guess, I had already had half if my life story spread around school and the other three probably knew everything thanks to Milly, I just didn't feel like talking about it. "Can we get out of here? We can go to the park near my place?" I asked trying to cure the awkward silence that was threatening.

"Yeah sure." He smiled and led me out of the café.

"Why did you leave school today?" Ashton asked after a while of us just walking along next to each other. I looked down at our hands and found they were linked. I hadn't even noticed. I looked up and saw Ashton looking at our entwined fingers as well.

"You know Milly?" I asked him. He nodded slowly.

"I think Luke has brought her up before, she's the popular hot one right?" He asked. A flash of jealously shot through me like a lightning bolt and I knew Ashton had seen it. "Sorry that's just what he told me." I was jealous of Ashton repeating it, I was pissed of Luke saying it in the first place. I shook the stupid thought out of my head and found myself looking at out hands again, Ashton was now caressing my hand with his thumb.

"What is this?" Ashton asked indicating to our linked hands. I smiled and shrugged. I knew he didn't mean it in a mean way so I didn't take any offence.

"I don't known I guess it cou-" I got cut off by Ashton's phone ringing. His hand sprung out of mine to get his phone.

"Hello?" He answered shooting me a sympathetic glance. I smiled weakly and he carried on. "Oh hey Luke." Of course it was Luke, somehow he would always pop up no matter what was happening. "Really? Now? I forgot I'm sorry... I'm out. Maybe. Stop getting angry I'll come okay." Whenever me and Ashton got close that boy would get in the way. He infuriated me in every way possible. "Hollie?" I heard Ashton ask me this time. I shook my head.

"Sorry what?" I asked smiling at him.

"I'm really sorry but Luke said I need to ditch you for this beach barbecue thing we've had booked for like a month," He said. I sighed not wanting him to leave me. He cupped my face in his hands. "Hey we can meet up tomorrow? Maybe you'll feel better and we can discuss things or not or whatever yeah?" He said getting slightly awkward. I giggled and leant into his hands as a confirmation. Slowly I saw him lean towards me and my eyes flickered to his perfect lips.

Just as they were about to touch his phone vibrated again and he sprung away.

"I've really got to go, I'm sorry gorgeous," He said, my face heating up as he called me that.

"Well I'll see you tomorrow around 1 and we can finish whatever this was," It was in between a question and a statement but he tugged his lips into a smile and nodded.

"I'd love that," He said kissing my forehead before springing away again and turning around.

"I'll be waiting..." I called but trailed off. He turned and sprinted to his car as I turned and walked home.

I never knew where I stood with Ashton. One minute we were close to kissing and holding hands and then the next springs away and acts like it never happened. Every time we got close something or someone would pop up and ruin it for us making it impossible to decide what was actually happening between us, that thing was usually Luke.

I found my mind drifting over to Luke. How annoying he was but no matter what we would always bump into each other when we least wanted to. I knew what kind of classes he had so I tried to avoid him but somehow he would end up walking into me. It was like we were both trying so hard to ignore each other we'd end up having to talk or walk into each other because that's just the way it played out. I thought about the way his face would look embarrassed and confused every time we bumped into each other and how we would always step the same way, and how he would awkwardly frown before putting his head down and walking away.

I realized what I was doing when I reached my house and I shook all thoughts from him out of my head.

I walked into the kitchen finding something to eat. I looked around quickly, no one was home. I went up to my room, got changed into my pyjamas put a film on and prayed that tomorrow would end up better than the day I had already had.
