"Am I?" she asked. I knew she was hiding something from me. I could always tell with her, I don't know why she even tried anymore.

"Who are you with?" I asked quickly. If she wasn't with me she had to be someone, she was putting on her polite voice.

"No one, why would you think I'm with someone?" She was being extremely shifty now.

"Because you only ever use your posh voice when you're around people," I stated. Suddenly it clicked, she was purposely avoiding my question and denying being with anyone. "You're with them aren't you," I said in sudden realization.

"You said I couldn't talk to them around you..." Her voice was hushed so they couldn't hear.

"Whatever. It doesn't matter," I said. I understood, she was a normal person who was attracted to boys. Of course she would be with them if she could.

"Hollie don't-" I cut her off before she could carry on.

"No I genuinely mean it! It's absolutely fine!" I raised my voice but not in an annoyed way just to try and get my point across.

"What? Why?" she asked getting extremely confused by my forgiving mood.

"Like you said I said not around me and you waited until you weren't around me. I'm thankful for that." I didn't want to bring up going out with Ashton later. I knew it would backfire somehow. But she knew me just as well as I knew her, and sadly she knew I was holding back.

"That's not it is it?"

"Why would you say-"

"Don't even try and get out of this Miss Patterson!" There was a pause. "Hollie what are you doing?" There was a longer pause. She was trying to figure out what I was doing and I was trying to figure out what to tell her. "Oh my god... You're going out with Ashton aren't you?!" She practically screamed down the phone. I wanted to yell back but refrained.

"It's not a date!" I spoke calmly.

"Sure it's not a date, what are you two doing?" she asked.

"We're going to the movies," I said, cringing when, yet again, she squealed.

"Going the cinema? And you still say it's not a date? What are you going to see?" She asked so many questions I wanted to tape her mouth shut. "You know going to the cinema is like the classic first date Hollie, I know you're not that stupid."

"I don't know! He's going to pick me up at 7 but that's all I know," I repeated exactly what Ashton had said earlier. She didn't reply straight away, instead  I heard her argue over the other side of the phone with someone. "Kae? Kaela?" I heard her hand rustling over the speaker and I knew she wouldn't hear me. She was talking to them, no, she was shouting at them.

"Sorry," she said after about five minutes of me just waiting. She was lucky I didn't hang up on her.

"What was that?" I asked her confused by how out of breath she sounded.

"Just them being idiots... I've got to go now babe, it's almost 7 anyway," She said almost too quickly.

"By-" I heard her hang up before I'd even finished.

"What the hell?" I said out loud. I really needed to stop doing that but I didn't care right now, I was just confused by the sudden change in my friend. But before I could get in too deep thought there was a knock at my door.

I jumped down the stairs three at a time and landed in front of the door. I quickly fixed my messy hair and cooled myself down before opening the door, forcing a smile.

"Hey," Ashton greeted me with his usual smile. I flung myself into his arms and wrapped my hands around his neck. I could tell he was extremely shocked but after a second, or two, he hugged me back.

I finished the hug, just as quickly as I started had started it and he looked at me confused.

"You're in a good mood," he said. I shrugged. I grabbed my bag and slipped my old black converse on and shut the door behind us.

"What's not to be happy about?" I asked, skipping to his car.

"Well..." He said tilting his head slightly.

"What?" I asked him turning to look at him, knowing this wasn't going to go anywhere good.

"He wasn't meant to come I promise, it was just meant to me and you but he wanted to come and I couldn't say no and I'm really sorry bu-" I stopped him by putting my finger on his lips. I didn't want to take in his words.

"Who?" I asked, although I already had an idea on who it was.

"Luke..." he said. I almost hit him at the sound of his name but I clenched my fist instead, making my knuckles go white.

"Why? He was just with Kaela, this makes no-" I stopped myself. She had been arguing with someone, of course it was Luke.

"I'm really sorry, we can ignore him I promise, it'll be like he's not even there, but he's my mate so I couldn't really say no..." he said, he was looking at my fist. I saw where his eyes were focusing and I quickly shook it off.

"It's fine Ashton, don't worry, I'll live." I took his hand and walked to the car. I went to get in the front but Luke was sat there. Ashton shot me an apologetic look before opening the back door for me and letting me climb in, he whispered another 'sorry' into my ear, sending unwanted chills all over my body.

Luke was watching me get in and I almost hissed at him. However I knew that would be a bit rude so I didn't.

"Hollie," he said with a small half grin on his face.

"Luke, I thought you were with Kaela." It was more a question than a statement but he nodded his head, his smile getting wider. I wanted to slap it off.

"I was but I got bored and I heard Ash was going to the movies and I decided I wanted to come," he said, shrugging as if it was no big deal he had just ruined the night for me.

"Oh great well I hope you enjoy it as much as I will," I said sending him an evil smile. I heard Ashton silently chuckle before he started the car and drove off to the cinema.
