Chapter 86

Sick and Tired (Time for Change)

"Hey Ma," you said shutting the door behind you. You stepped inside and headed for your room. ‘’Baby, hey. Wait, come here." Doing an about-face, you turned around and walked into the living to see what she wanted. After you sat down and placed a pillow on your lap, you gave her your full attention. "How was school [yn]?" It was the middle of the week, only Wednesday; as if this week wasn’t going by slow enough. At this point, you were done with this school year. SO DAMN OVER IT. Word spread real fast around school about what Donte did too. Fortunately, after your mom filed the police report and met with his parents, they decided to let him sit in jail for a week to let him see what it was like to be a criminal. Eventually, they’d let him out for graduation but soon would found another way to punish him. Even though Donte was locked up and away, it was all you could think about. Gladly you didn’t have to have that coward face to face though. "It was alright ma, just glad the day is over," you said with a dramatic sigh. Your mom found your behavior lately to be quite abnormal. Lately you were a bit depressed with life. You didn’t want to live at home nor in this city anymore. Since that night Diggy and Perry proposed the plan to take you outta here, that’s all you could imagine. That’s all you really wanted. Unfortunately, your parents didn’t want you to leave. You were their baby, their only baby. Yes, you were 18 and technically an adult but you were still very young. Would you moving to New York with Daniel be what was best right now? Who cares! Whatever it took to get you outta here… Your mom could see by your actions that you wanted to leave. "What’s on your mind baby?" You looked up from playing with the sequins on the pillow, "I want to move to NYC with my boyfriend." She didn’t respond but simply nodded. "Baby that’s a huge step, I’m not sure if that’s what’s best for you?" "And ma, how exactly do you know what’s best for me?" "She knows because she’s your mother. That’s exactly why," your dad said stepping inside. He shut and locked the door. Throwing his briefcase on the couch, he sat right next to your mother. He kissed her on the forehead, "Hey baby." You just sat there and rolled your eyes. All week, you and your father were going back and forth with one another. His decision was final. "I don’t understand why y’all just won’t let me go," you said getting up frustrated. "SIT DOWN," your dad yelled. You looked him straight in his eye, he stared back with intensity. He shook his head and said, "You just think you grown huh? HUH!" "Daryl, please…" "Please nothing Michelle, I’m sick and tired of her attitude." You sighed and shook your head, "If you’re sick and tired of me, then let me leave!" On that note, you got up and headed to your room. Your parents sat in silence. "I can’t  take anymore with her Michelle." "Baby, she’s been through a lot. I see why she wants to leave." "Okay. So we let her leave, then what?" "Let her live and learn. Give her a chance to see what the consequences of her decision are." Your dad looked at your mom with this crazy expression, "Daryl look. She is 18. Now I don’t feel any better about her leaving as you do but maybe it is what’s best. She’s young and the experience may benefit her much." "Michelle, I just don’t want anything to happen," he said rubbing his head, "I just…I…" "I know baby," she said holding him, "We need to let her go." He looked into your mothers eyes with sadness, "I guess we do huh?"

Later that day…

"[YN]! Dinners ready!" ‘’ ‘Alright ma!’ But yeah girl, I’m just ready to leave. I promise I can’t deal with them anymore," you told Monique over the phone. Y’all were talking for nearly an hour about the future and what could happen. "So where would you live girl?" "I guess with Daniel." "Have you talked to him?" "Not since Sunday when he came over." "Oh." "I miss him." "Shit [yn], me too." You both laughed. You quickly turned your head and stared at your doorway, footsteps were approaching your room. "I gotta go, someone is coming." "Alright girl, call me back." "Kay." Once you hung up, you stood up and slipped on your house shoes. You looked around your room before spotting a shiny light on your dresser. The light reflected off of something. "Awh Daniel's chain," you said smiling as you approached your dresser. Picking up his chain, you looked at it and rubbed it in your hand. Seeing his chain made you miss him even more. When you would you see him again? "Come on, dinners getting cold babe." You looked up with this confused expression on your face and stared into the mirror. Was what you were seeing real? Daniel smiled as he stared at your beautiful complexion in the mirror. Gasping, you covered your mouth with your hands, clenching his chain in your hand. Daniel chuckled, then looked you up and down, licking his lips. Just to make sure you weren’t dreaming, you turned around really fast. He was still there lol. "Baby," you said running over to him. Your thirsty ass leaped across the bed just to get to bae lol. "Hey beautiful," he said holding you. You felt the soft kiss he stamped on your neck. He smelled so good. "Baby..." "Yes babe?" "How’d you get here?" "Don’t worry about that, let’s go downstairs and figure this out okay?" "Huh?" What was he talking about? He grabbed your hand and led you downstairs. "There they are," you heard someone yell. You saw some people at your dinner table. As you got closer, the faces looked more and more familiar. It was Daniels parents and your parents all sitting together. "What the……," you said under your breathe. They all smiled as they saw you approaching. "Hey baby," your mom said smiling. "Hey ma," you said kissing her on the cheek. That was the first kiss of four; you went in a circle around the table. "You are so beautiful," Rev said smiling at you. "Isn’t she," Mrs. Justine agreed. You blushed and moved your big curly hair out of your face. Whenever you were nervous or in this case, blushing, you always played in your hair. It was your clutch. "Thank you," you said smiling. "Have a seat babe," Daniel said pulling your chair out. Once you both sat down, everyone stared at the two of you. After a few awkward seconds, you curiously asked, "What’s going on?" "You tell us," your dad said rubbing his chin. Squinting your eyes, you asked, "What you mean?" You looked at Daniel to see if he could help you out. He just smiled at you. "Why isn’t anyone speaking?" No one responded. "Tell us why," your dad said playing with his hands, "we should let you move to New York with this young man," he said looking up and pointing at Daniel. At this point, you didn’t know whether to be excited or nervous. It was certainly a lot of pressure on you because both sets of parents awaited your response. Well, here goes nothing, "Well ummmm, I guess…. I ummmm….." Everyone looked at you in bewilderment. "You okay sweetie?" "Yes Mrs. Justine, I’m just lost for words," you said wiping your face, "He’s perfect. Sometimes perfection simply can’t be justified or explained. It speaks for itself." Everyone nodded. "Daniel's been nothing but a gentleman these past few months. He respects me and I feel safe with him. He has amazing parents and stability. Moving to NYC would be nothing more than what I want right now. I’ve been through so much these past few months," you said wiping your watering eyes, "And it would be great to just escape it all after graduation. I just, I just, I…" you said choking up. "Here baby," Daniel said grabbing a tissue. He grabbed your face and wiped it clean. They all watched how gentle he was with you; the way he handled you. Once he was done, he let you continue explaining. "Ma, Pa I know y’all are worried about me but there’s nothing to worry for. I’m in good hands." "Where do you plan to live [yn]?" "I purchased my own condo not too long ago. I plan on moving in soon," Daniel said to your father. His face looked a bit uneasy. "We could move in together," he said looking at your face. "I don’t know abo…" "Daryl, c’mon. They are both 18." "I don’t feel 100% on this as well," Rev said speaking up, "But this could be a good test for them," he said making this look at your dads face. He nodded. "Maybe so," your dad said, "Maybe so." "So is that a yes daddy?" He hesitated at first, but finally nodded a yes. You jumped up and screamed. Everyone laughed. Daniel stood up and grabbed you. He picked you up and swung you around in the air. Your eyes met before you kissed. You were staring into the eyes of your new roommate.
