"Now, I'm just gonna hold onto you until the police arrive. If you just keep still and cooperate than there'll be no chance that YOU will get hurt."

He raised his hands slowly. I hoped like hell that I wouldn't get in trouble for this and pushed one of his hands aside and shoved my other arm under his bicep, twisting his arm around until he cried out and bent at the knees. I quickly kick him hard in the shins, though not hard enough to break any bone, and leapt backwards as he dropped to the floor. He growled deep in his throat, sounding like an animal, and jumped up onto all fours in less than a second. I had two options; run or fight the guy who was supposed to be my ally.

I chose the former and sprinted out the door, swinging it behind me to slow him down slightly. Garth had told me not to leave the borders of the house and I knew better than to go upstairs. Falling down stairs was never done without broken body parts and in the upper level it would be easier for me to be trapped. I kept my fingers crossed, hoping that he didn't have a house lock down and sprinted towards the front door. I could climb a tree. I was the best tree climber, there was no way he would be able to follow me up one of those trunks. He caught up to me as I reached the door, grabbed my shoulder and flung me down onto my back.

I used my momentum to roll backwards and get up onto my feet with some distance between us. I expected him to charge but he just stood there, eying me.

He was good. He knew that with me attacking him it would give him the advantage of close quarters.

If only I knew my way around this house. I could find a back door but I could get trapped in a small room and then Larkin would pulverise me.

Damn! Would he quit staring at me? Those blue eyes were unnerving. A pastel blue should emit innocence not awareness and hostility. They were jumbling me up!

His lips twitched. ARGH! He knew it! He knew he was getting to me! That was IT!

I walked towards him. Not slow or fast. There was no rush. His smirk broadened. I narrowed my eyes. His hands were by his sides but his shoulders were tense, his legs slightly apart so he was balanced. Going in low would put him off, the only advantage I had with my height being shorter than his. I knew that if I could get close enough I would be able to bring him down by kneeing him in the stomach and jabbing my heel into the backs of his knees. But he was strong enough that I would be brought down with him and there was no way I could pin him down. He could probably bench press double my weight.

I got closer and feinted in with a jab at the left side of his stomach and then slapped my right hand across his left ear. That ought to disorientate him and cause him slight dizziness. His face did go slightly washed out, the area around his ear slowly becoming pink, but he still caught both of my wrists before I could withdraw. I pulled back, trying to tug him in my direction. He hardly moved. It didn't matter though, he was still using his muscles to pull me in his direction. So, when I changed direction and leapt forward, knee thrusting up to get him in the gut, he should have been totally unprepared and unbalanced. SHOULD have been.

He was faster than I had expected and was obviously prepared for this move. He slapped my knee so it shot past him and yanked on my hand so that I followed my knee and very nearly collided with the door. I slapped my hands against the wood to stop myself and all of a sudden he was wrapping around me from behind, shoving me into the wall, his body heat crowding me.

My mind blanked and I panicked. No, no! I knew ways to get out of this! Think, Diz! I stomped my foot back, aiming to crunch his toes. He drew his foot away before I could hit it. I couldn't move my arms, he had my wrists locked in an unmovable grip, held tightly against the door. I thrust my hips back, forcing him to hunch over, which brought his head closer. I quickly thrust my legs upward, smashing the back of my head into his nose. He was supposed to release me but all he did was curse several times and move in closer so that his knees pressed against the back of mine. I couldn't move. Damn him!
