Jue.

"Nice crib." The once anonymous voice spoke before I clearly recognized it. The hard metal thumped against my head so I raised my hands in surrender, turning towards him. I've lost count of the amount of times I've had a gun to my head-thinking this was none other than karma for one stupid decision when I was younger of holding a gun to someone head, Evi.

Before any actions or words could be exchanged, my phone started ringing and trembling against the granite counters. I glanced over the lock screen seeing Evi's name and picture from when we went to cheesecake pop up. I faced back up at him as he licked over his lips at the sight of the picture.

"Answer it!"

I slid my thumb over the answer icon and lifted the phone to my ear. "Hello?" I answer after a few short seconds of accepting the call.

"Hey, I was just making sure you made it there okay. You alright? You didn't get pulled over, did you?"

Clearing my throat from being uneasy with a gun pointing toward my forehead, I answered, "Yeah, I'm here. I'm.. fine and nah, I didn't get pulled over." More like get pulled up on.

"Okay, good. You seen the news?"

"Yes." I answer breathy, wishing I could tell her what predicament I was in without taking a bullet between my eyes.

"Okay." She drug out. " You sure you okay?" He made a motion with the gun for me to put the phone down or in other words, get off.

"Yeah." I mumble then hesitate. "I'll call you back later." I say lastly, hoping I would be alive to keep my word.

"Okay. Bye." She said, seeming like she sensed something was wrong. I hung up after her last word then sat the phone back on the counter.

"She's got even finer."

"This still about Evi, huh?" I question Niko, really over this whole childish issue. It's obvious who have her, why keep stressing it is what I wonder.

He shakes his head in disagreement, making me curious into what it is then. His eyes adverted around the perimeter of my apartment and he nodded. "You just living the life." Niko starts then face my way again.

"My life. I was suppose to have the nice place to stay with the nice cars, nice and big money paying career with a fine honey by my side. But you know what I got instead? An injured leg, a permanent limp, a criminal record and years in jail for something I wasn't even apart of! So no, this isn't about Evi it's about just how unfair life is and how it should've been!" He carelessly shake the gun with every other word he speaks with venom.

"By this time, I was suppose to have a championship under my belt man. I could've proved my bitch ass dad wrong about me. Showed him I could be something without him and regardless of his discouragement and disownment. I should've been able to buy my momma a house. I could've had her out that shack she calls a home but I can't do that from jail with no money and no career!"

I stay in the same defensive position as he looks at me with a look of distress. He turned away for a moment but the glock was still straight at attention towards me. He wiped his face as I knew he became choked up. I'm sure it is hard to have your life completely change around in a flash but it's no reason to take someone else's.

"You've got it good and don't even know it. If I could just reverse that night and not have had that party, I'd probably actually be something-not just a typical black man in America." Niko states then lifts the revolver up to my face again. "Give me one good reason why I shouldn't kill you right now."
