Rydel's POV

The tour bus had just arrived outside our house and one by one we all exited the thing we called home for 5 months. Unloading the bus, we all grabbed our luggage and instruments. Taking extra care when removing my keyboard, I tumbled back due to the weight of it and yelped. A strong pair of hands broke my fall and the weight of the keyboard was lifted from me. Turning around quickly, I thanked my saviour.

Ellington just smiled, excusing the thanks and picking my keyboard back up. He walked inside my house carrying my keyboard and placing it inside the rehearsal room. I couldn't help but smile to myself as I followed him inside. We spent a little longer unloading the tour bus until it was completely empty and free from our belongings. The driver drove off and we waved goodbye. As soon as I got inside, I traipsed to my room and flopped onto my bed with an exhausted sigh. It felt nice to be in my own bed. The tiredness hit shortly after, my eyes feeling heavy and darkness taking over as I fell into a deep sleep.

I had slept for a few hours before my brother decided to wake me up. I groaned as I stretched my tired body, swinging my legs over the side of the bed and following my brother to the dining room. Taking a seat next to Ellington, I gave him a small smile before focusing on my brothers conversation. The plate of food was placed before me, followed by a 'thank you'.

Sparking up conversation, I turned to Ellington. "So, what was your favourite part of the tour?" I asked. He thought for a moment, debating his answer before responding, "I think I'd have to say London. The crowd was amazing."

Ryland couldn't help but laugh as he watched us both. It was no secret that I was madly in love with Ellington. Everybody knew, even Ellington. Unfortunately, he had a girlfriend. Believe me, she's lovely. They're well suited and I'm just glad Ell is happy, even if that means I'm not.

"Hey guys, can Kelly come over?" He asked, causing my heart to drop a little more. Everybody was open to the idea. I politely excused myself, walking out into the back garden and dipping my legs into the pool. I couldn't help but think about the night Ell and I spent out here, the night that we created the song 'Falling for you'.

It was a beautiful night, bright stars filled the night sky, the full moon shone bright over the pool. Ratliff and I were sitting outside with our feet in the pool, eating cold, leftover pizza. We were working on a new song. "Okay, so we need to work on the song!" Ratliff admitted, not wanting to procrastinate any longer. "I know, I know! I just can't think of any lyrics..." I responded, trying my hardest to think of something.

We sat there for a little while longer, before he set the guitar down and stood up. I stood up too and he started getting his socks on. I laughed at his mismatched socks, they were covered polka dots. "Where are you going?" I asked, tilting my head in confusion. He chuckled, "I'm gonna go for a jog around the garden, to try and freshen up my mind." I couldn't help but laugh at him.

Reaching for his phone, he opened Spotify and shuffled his favourite playlist. His jog was short, he slowly broke into dance and before I know it, he's taking my hand and spinning me around. Caught up in the moment, I was unaware our hands were no longer intertwined and I was heading for the pool. Returning to the surface, my giggle was all that could be heard alongside his obnoxious laugh. Laying on my back, I began floating, staring up at the night sky. Ell soon joined me, taking my hand as he began floating beside me.

Breaking the silence, I finally spoke up. "Hey, Ell?" My voice was soft, almost unheard. He took a few seconds to respond, "Yeah, Dell?" This time, it was my turn to hesitate, "Can you promise me something?"

Ell stood, keeping our hands linked, before turning to face me. "You're kinda worrying me. What is it?" I stood too, keeping my head down, looking into the water. "Promise me you'll never leave, that you'll always be there when I need you. You're my best friend," I admitted. Ell's fingers hooked under my chin, forcing me to look at him. "Hey, where is this coming from? I will always be there for you. I swear, I'm not going anywhere. Even in 50 years time, when my kids and grandkids are all grown up, I will be there."

"Promise?"

"Promise!"

We locked our pinkies, smiling at each other before he splashed me.

I was drawn from my thoughts at the sound of Kelly's voice. Everybody was joining in the garden, pulling the tent from the shed. Kelly and I sat and watched as the guys pitched it, laughing at their failed attempts before helping them.

Starting a camp fire, we all sat around and made s'mores, talking about random things until it was time to sleep.

Opening my eyes, I checked my phone. 4:07am. I sighed, exiting the tent and walking into the kitchen to grab a glass of water. I almost let out a scream as I collide with a body, stopping myself when I realise its just Ellington. "Hey, what're you doing up?" He asked. I yawn, "Needed water. You?"

"Water and couldn't sleep," he admitted. "Wanna head to the basement and chill?" I agree, following him down and grabbing a blanket. I plonk onto the sofa, cuddling into his side as we watch a film.

The next morning, the sound of a camera woke us both up. My body pressed into his, Ellington's arms trapping me. Ross was standing over us, phone in hand as he continued taking pictures of us. Remembering Kelly, I jump up, excusing myself and going to my bedroom.

I stayed in there most of the day, too nervous to face anybody.

A knock on the door broke me from my thoughts, shortly after, Ell walked in. "Hey, whats up?"

Taking a risk, I spoke my thoughts, "I don't think I can take this anymore. I can't keep hiding my feelings. I like you Ell, you know this and I don't think I can keep it under control. The way you make me feel, its insane. You make me feel special and I can't see you and Kelly together all the time. It hurts, especially when its right under my nose. I think we need to talk about this..."

Without a second thought, he kissed me. My breath hitched, before pushing him away, as much as I enjoyed it. It was wrong, he had a girlfriend and I was friends with her. Turning towards my doorway, I caught sight of Kelly. She turned and ran, Ellington following her after. I was left standing there, confused, humiliated and scared that I had now lost my best friend.
