Chapter 48

"Besh, are you okay?" Ella asked ng hindi sumagot si Dennise. "Wala ka bang nararamdaman?"

"Bukod sa sakit? Wala na. Wala nang mas sasakit pa Besh sa mga narinig ko."

"No. What I mean is... yung...yung sakit mo." hirap man banggitin ni Ella dahil nag-aalala siya, sinabi niya pa rin to make sure.

"I'm fine. Atleast, mawala man ako. I experienced my firsts and probably my last with her."

Ella looked at Den's Mom. Parehong nag-aalala.

"Besh, don't say thay. Please."

Dennise smiled weakly while still in tears.

"Besh, kung alam ko lang na ganon yung mangyayari, hindi na sana kita pinapunta pa." sabi ni Ella.

Tears keeps on falling. Heart keeps on breaking.

"Besh, I think naman hindi 'to ginusto ni Ly." Ella said cheering her Beshy up. "We can see it in her eyes naman eh. Besh, kung ano man 'yun. I know she has a good reason. She won't choose her company for nothing eh. Why don't you give her what she wants. Listen to her, Besh."

Tulala pa rin si Dennise.

"Anak, I'm sorry. Hindi ko agad nasabi sa'yo kasi wala ako dito kahapon. I should've told you first, kaso it's too late." sabi ng Mommy ni Dennise. "Pumunta siya dito, saying sorry. Explaining everything. Hoping you would understand her. She made sure everything will be fine before it happened."

"You knew about it, Ma?" she said with a crack tone. "Why didn't you tell me?"

"Anak, hindi ko alam na kahapon ka darating. I wasn't here to tell you about it. And hindi ko alam na pupunta ka sa event."

"Then, why the hell did she gave me that goddamn invitation?!" Dennise said. "For me to see how she succeed of breaking my heart apart?!"

"Hindi naman sa ganon, Den. Hindi siya ang nagbigay ng invitations. We didn't even know kung para saan 'yun at first eh." sabi ni Ella. "If you just listened to her. Hindi ka sana nasasaktan ng ganito."

"Listen? I heard enough. She's getting married, Besh. And I..." too much tears started to fall again. "And I was fcking stupid. Naniwala ako sa mga pangako niya!"

"Besh..."

"Stop. I'm tired. If you want to stay, you may. But I'm getting upstairs, Besh." sabi ni Dennise.

Sinamahan siya ni Ella hanggang sa kwarto niya.

She hugged Ella and whispered, "I'll miss you, Besh."

"Besh, huwag ganyan. Magpapahinga ka lang saglit."

"I'll be sleeping in peace." she said.

"Naku, Den! Umayos ka dyan hah!"

"I told you, I'll be saying goodbye, when I--"

"Stop it! See you later." trying to be positive. "Kaya pa 'yan ng puso mo, Besh."

"Basta. You're my greatest Besh ever. I spent the bestest moment of my life with you. I knew I did." sabi ni Dennise. "Thank you for being my Besh for more than half of my life. I love you, Besh."

"Naku!! Tumigil ka nga diyan, Dennise! Sinasabi ko sa'yo hah. Uubusin ko talaga pagkain niyo sa ref. kapag di ka pa titigil dyan." sabi ni Ella.

"Joke lang, Besh." Dennise said it as a joke but her lips didn't even formed a curve — or a smile.
