Demi let the tears roll down her cheeks as she rolled her sleeves up seeing old scars. Her parents knew she used to cut, she had managed to get herself better but the urges now were getting too much to cope with. She tried to think about her mother and how she wouldn't need this or Joe who had no idea what she thought she was doing. It was hard to think about doing this when she had an amazing mother and boyfriend but she couldn't stand the urges no longer.

Demi exited the bathroom pulling her sleeves down not going to risk her mother seeing the bandages which were covering her wrists. She sighed making her way downstairs seeing that her mother had already got the film ready and a couple of snacks for them to have. She took in a deep breath before sitting down next to her thanking her as she passed her a drink.

"Are you okay? You were a while?" Dianna inquired as she started the film.

"Yeah, I just had to be by myself for a minute." Demi mumbled taking a sip from the drink but she didn't feel hungry enough to have any of the snacks.

"I know Eddie isn't your real father but that doesn't mean he didn't love you any less. He was so proud of the woman you were becoming." Dianna praised having to hold back her own tears as she admired her only child and daughter.

"I-I know," Demi breathed. "It's just so weird here without him, it's quiet." Dianna couldn't help but laugh a little bit kissing her temple.

"He was a loud bugger wasn't he," They both laughed a little bit. "Joe is a nice boy though, he was really concerned about you yesterday."

"I know, he's a worrier." Demi cracked a small smile.

"How is his mother doing?" Demi shrugged her shoulders gently.

"He hasn't said anything but I don't think she's had any more rounds of chemotherapy because obviously the body needs a break before the next one." Demi explained.

"It would be horrible if she had to leave her boys, he doesn't have a father does he." Demi shook her head looking over at her mother.

"You know that time in the bank when a man jumped in front of us?" Dianna nodded her head. "It was Joe's dad."

"It was?" Dianna inquired Demi nodding her head. "I thought I recognised his face."

"He looks more like his mother." Demi stated giggling a little bit as Dianna shook her head. They just needed each other to get their minds off losing someone close to them. They were soon snuggled up to one another enjoying one of Eddie's favourite films but it wasn't the same. Eddie would be talking about the film as they watched it, giving them a commentary on a film they had already seen. Instead the room was dead silent.

Joe was outside with Josh shooting some hoops together. They had already spent some time together doing some homework and now having a break, they would go back to homework after dinner which Kevin cooked them.

"Have you called Demi yet?" Josh inquired Joe shaking his head.

"You've been with me all the time," Joe stated Josh laughing slightly. "But no, she said she was going to spend some time with her mom so I'll let her and text her a little later on."

"No one suspected that she wasn't eating correctly but now I think about it she never ate much at lunch, only an apple or occasionally a sandwich." Josh stated.

"She told her mom she ate dinner with us so she never ate a main meal at home." Joe sighed slightly, he couldn't help but worry about her. They hadn't been together for long but that didn't mean he didn't care about her any less. He knew how hard it was to lose someone so close to you, he had given her all his advice. She just needed to gradually get over it in her own time.
