For some reason, a lot of zombie themed stories like to kill off all of humanity.  Apparently, humans aren't smart enough most of the time to come up with a cure for the zombie causing disease, despite centuries of advancements in medical research.  Even though humans can now fight bacterial infections and cure some types of cancer, a zombie virus is apparently too much for them.  So all is humanity in fiction is doomed to the ever growing zombie apocalypse.  Yeah, no.  This is a nonsensical cliche that really needs to go, as it defies all basic logic about medical science.  Humanity would most likely cure the zombie causing virus before it became a international issue, probably containing any infected people like with any other disease and then trying to cure them.
