Heartbeat
It's the faintest beat,
Faintest thump,
Faintest feeling fighting through the emptiness.
The black hollowness that consumed me so,
Seemed to be slow,
Ever so slowly,
Disappearing from inside me.
It's the faintest beat,
Faintest thump,
Faintest feeling fighting through the emptiness.
It's my heartbeat!
It's returning!
I think as the tiny tha-thump brightened my spirit,
The one I thought that had been lost to that deepening hollowness.
It's the faintest beat,
Faintest thump,
Faintest feeling fighting through the emptiness.
Granted,
It is not very strong
But it's a heartbeat nonetheless,
And a flicker of hope that the hollowness is going away.
Maybe my future isn't so bleak?
Maybe I can look past this?
Perhaps I can feel like I did once before.
But it's the faintest of a beat,
The faintest thump,
The faintest feeling fighting through my emptiness,
The faintest thought that I will be okay.
Author's Note:
For those of you who haven't noticed, I've been going through an emotionally tough breakup...I've been beat up for a little while but I seem to be doing better than I ever expected...I have the waves of sadness that comes with grieving over the things I lost, but nonetheless I am getting better...slowly but surely anyway. ANYWHO! The thing I can say is that I am having a kick ass boom of inspiration and I'm able to make these wonders of poems :D So keep on reading and hopefully he poetry won't be so depressing soon, and maybe I'll be able to write more stories rather than just poetry xD
