You bounced slightly on the balls of your feet. The springy moss on the ground tickled your toes. You skipped ahead of Lukas.
"(Y/n) stay where I can see you!" He warned.
You disregarded him and continued forward. He called you once more, more urgency in his voice.
"That's a cliff!" His voice hitched an octave.
You stumbled to a stop just on time and laughed, turning back towards your big brother. "Thanks!" You skip back towards him and take his hands. "Will you finally tell me about all the magic? Will you teach me?"
Lukas looked down at you. "No." He says. He releases your hands and turns away, walking in a different direction.
Your smile fades. "Why?"
"Everyone has their own unique magic." He glanced back at you. "I can't teach you anything. You have to discover it on your own."
You paused before grinning and bounding after him. "Cool! That's even more exciting than I originally thought it'd be!"
"You have to be careful in here." He warns calmly. "You never know what could want to kill you."
You glanced at the brightly coloured flowers warily. "Oh." The flowers couldn't kill you... could they?
The two of you continue walking silently side by side. You aren't sure if you should say something or not...
"So..." You start awkwardly.
"Hush." Lukas hisses, crouching behind a bush. He yanks you down beside him. You follow your brother gaze and gasp. A cluster of ten or so fairies hovered not ten feet from the two of you, giggling and playing, unaware of the two humans nearby.
A smile found it's way onto your lips. "I've never seen any in person before." You whispered.
"Mhm." Lukas hummed, eyes never leaving the creatures.
You sat silently for a few moments. "When did you first develop your magic?"
Lukas looks you up and down. "I was about your age." He said calmly. "You shouldn't be to worried about it. It'll come when the time is right."
You sigh. "I know, I know." You gesture towads the fairies. "I'm just excited to join their world; your world."
Lukas ruffles your hair and stands up, pulling you up with him. "Good to know you're enthusiastic." He begins to walk back in the direction of your home. "Come on. Mathias said he'd have hot chocolate for us when we got home."
