sorry for the short chapter:)

Vedanti pov:)

As I entered Trupti's chamber, the sight of her sobbing uncontrollably, clutching Abhira's hand tightly as she slept, struck a chord within me. Despite the anger and hurt she had caused, I couldn't help but feel a twinge of sympathy for her plight.

She reached out and grasped my legs, her voice barely above a whisper as she pleaded, "Please, I beg you. I don't want to leave Abhira alone. Please let me stay."

Gently, I helped her to stand, and we sat together on the sofa. Looking into her eyes, I spoke with a firmness tinged with compassion, "For that, you have to tell me the truth. Only the truth."

With a deep breath, she began to speak, her words laden with guilt and remorse. "I thought I loved Abhira's biological father, but no. When we love someone, we can't unlove them and give that love to someone else. And I saw that in Hukum's eyes. He truly loves you, Ranisa."

Her admission took me aback, but I pressed on, needing to know the truth about that fateful night. "I just want to know what happened that night. Did Abhirath... I mean, did you both...?" I trailed off, understanding her discomfort in sharing such intimate details with me.

Her response came with a heavy weight of guilt. "Hukum never slept with me. I twisted the truth and told you so that you would leave us."

Her confession left me stunned, realizing the depths of her deception and the lengths she had gone to protect herself and Abhirath. Yet, amidst the pain and betrayal, there was a glimmer of understanding, a recognition of the complexities of human emotion and the choices made in moments of desperation.

She continued, her voice quivering with remorse and sorrow, "You remember those nine years when you and Abhirath weren't speaking, I mean, he never stopped caring." Her words hung in the air, heavy with the weight of truth and regret. I met her gaze, silently urging her to continue, promising understanding.

Trupti's gaze fell to the floor as she spoke, her words coming out in a shaky whisper, "Hukum used to write letters to you, not just every month or fortnight, but every single day. I would intercept them from the delivery servant and keep them with me. From the moment you ascended to the throne, for five years, he wrote to you faithfully, sending paintings envisioning your future together." Her voice wavered, choked with emotion, as tears streamed down her cheeks.

"I was blinded by jealousy," she confessed, her words laced with anguish. "Blinded by the depth of his love for you, by how much he cared. I'm so sorry." She clung to my legs, her grip tight with desperation and regret.

I sat there, overwhelmed by her confession, feeling a mix of emotions coursing through me—pain, regret, longing. The reality of Abhirath's unwavering love, so fervently expressed in his letters and paintings, hit me with a force I couldn't comprehend.

As tears welled in my eyes, I silently cursed myself for not seeing the truth sooner, for allowing jealousy to cloud my judgment. The weight of Trupti's words, the depth of Abhirath's devotion, bore down on me, leaving me numb with sorrow.

"How could you do that? I had just lost my parents, I was just a 12-year-old child. How could you, Trupti?" My voice trembled with anger and bitterness, the depth of my  surfacing in every word. "Did Abhirath ever find out about your actions? Did he know those letters never reached me in the first place?" The disdain and anger for her actions dripped from my words like venom.

"No, he never found out," she confessed, her voice heavy with regret. "He thought you were angry with him. Hukum was consumed by guilt for not being able to save your parents and his friends. He couldn't muster the courage to confront you. But after five years, his patience wore thin. He couldn't bear the thought of being separated from you any longer, so he decided to come to your kingdom."

Trupti's words cut through me like a knife. She continued, recounting the night of Abhirath's arrival. "He came to your kingdom at night and saw you and your friend Ram in a chamber, laughing and having fun. You were the only ones present, so he assumed you didn't need him. . You were oblivious to his letters, his pleas, consumed in your own happiness."

My heart sank as I listened to her words, the truth of Abhirath's misguided assumptions piercing through my anger. "He came back angry, extremely angry, and in his drunken state, he couldn't bear to see me. I was waiting for him in his chamber, and when he saw me, he lashed out, telling me to leave." Trupti's voice trembled with the weight of her confession, and  my anger new no boundaries by now.

"I was not ready to leave; he was drunk. I was just trying to help him. I took him to his bath area and told him to have a bath, but he didn't listen to me. So, I made him sit on the bench and poured water over his head. I thought he would sober up, but he didn't. I started removing his shirt." As she spoke, I clenched my fists, struggling to maintain my composure and listen to her explanation.

She continued, her voice trembling with remorse, "I started drying his upper body with a towel and his hair. Suddenly, he grabbed my waist, and I looked at him. He looked at me, and before I could react, he began kissing my neck. I let out a small gasp as he made me sit on his lap, and then he kissed my lips. As I kissed his jaw, he whispered your name, making me frozen on the stop and I ran back to my chamber crying, next morning he asked for my forgiveness."

Her words pierced through me like a dagger, each syllable sending a surge of pain and betrayal coursing through my veins. I stood there, frozen in disbelief, grappling with the overwhelming flood of emotions threatening to engulf me. The image of Abhirath, intoxicated and entangled with another, seared into my mind, leaving me reeling with anguish and heartache.

I feel like killing abhirath and Trupti both.
