Surrendering is Bravery

Throughout my life, I used to hold the belief
That bravery lay in those who fought, never relieved.
Weakness, I thought, belonged to those who gave in,
Lacked willpower, and let their dreams grow thin.

Perseverance, I deemed, was the only way,
To face adversity, come what may.
Surrendering, I believed, was not the choice,
To hold on tight, and silence the inner voice.

But through a painful journey, I came to see,
That holding on blindly may not set us free.
Sometimes, the act of fighting can cause more pain,
And in letting go, true healing we can gain.

I learned that surrendering is not defeat,
But a path to find solace and retreat.
For in releasing the grip, we find our release,
And grant ourselves the gift of inner peace.

It takes courage and strength to admit,
That some battles are better left unfit.
To move on and let go, a brave endeavor,
A musing on life, a lesson to treasure.

Now I understand, with newfound clarity,
That surrendering has its own validity.
There's a time and place for every pursuit,
Including surrender, a choice not to refute.

In reverie, I embrace this wisdom profound,
That surrendering and giving up can be profound.
For in the surrender, we find our true grace,
And open ourselves to a new, peaceful space.
