👼 MY ANGEL 👼

Jeremy did save her life, twice now. But the hatred Elsa harbored for him was still as strong as the first day.

So what if Jeremy now loves her? It is too late now.

So late that the wounds Elsa bears may never properly heal.

He may have used the opportunities to save her to comfort the guilt in his heart, but it wasn’t enough. If he wants to give his life to appease his guilty conscience, then so be it. Elsa will give him just that and push him to his death.

“Have you truly lost all your love for my grandson?”

“I loved him very much, grandpa. And he didn't want it. He himself told me to stop loving him with his own lips and advised me to get rid of any feelings for him.”

“Elsa, I cannot excuse the things Jeremy has done to you. There are no words to make what he did sound less bad. What he did was wrong. And you had every right to hold resentment towards him. But if you don’t love him, why did you come back to him?”

Elsa knew she couldn’t tell the Old Master the truth, so she said, “Who knows. Maybe I just found myself running back into the arms of the man that once destroyed me.”

Those words were very heavy. Jeremy was Peter Callahan’s grandson. But, he wasn’t going to excuse his actions towards Elsa. He knew the damage he had done to her. But he also knew that he didn’t do it out of  detestation towards Elsa. But he should be the one to tell Elsa why he did such a thing.

“Elsa, what George said just now is true. I have been suspecting we got the girl who saved Jeremy wrong the moment I saw you. Don’t you remember, Elsa? Don’t you remember the little boy you saved from an exploding ship and swam with him to safety?”

Elsa just chuckled then said, “Grandpa, even if I remember, isn’t it too late for such a past to be revealed? It won’t fix our relationship.”

The Old Master understood what Elsa was saying. He nodded then his eyes went to the Jesus statue in the room. He took Elsa’s hand holding it between his hands on the walking cane.

“When you came back, Jeremy was so happy. Because he had constantly asked for a chance to ask you for forgiveness and atone for his sins against you. He constantly looked for ways to earn your forgiveness. That’s why he took care of your family’s graves, brought flowers to them after every two weeks. He hoped that one day, he would earn forgiveness.

“He called me that very evening you showed up out of nowhere, his excitement like that of a child on Christmas morning. He could finally apologize face to face and beg for your forgiveness. He didn’t even care where you came from and how you were suddenly back into his life. He was so happy that that was irrelevant at that moment. What he cared about the most was using this heaven-sent opportunity to make it up to you.

“He spread your ashes at April Sea, right?... Every evening, he used to go there with 88 flowers in his hand and placed them on the shores of the ocean. I saw regret in his face every single day. And I still see it to this day. He is truly sorry for what he did to you, Elsa. I hope one day you can forgive him. You don’t have to take him back, just forgive him.”

Elsa listened carefully to the Old Master Callahan.

Would she forgive Jeremy?

Maybe she would forgive him after he’s dead.

Elsa remained silent, and the Old Master did not pester her.

He simply said, “You and Jeremy found each other when you were children, experiencing love at first sight. Then you were separated, only to find each other again and experience another love at first sight. Love struck both of you at different times. You may not believe this, Elsa, but Jeremy is your destiny. And people linked by destiny will always find each other.”

The statement that confused Elsa the most was the mention of two instances of love at first sight. She knew the Old Master did not mean she loved Jeremy at first sight, so did he mean Jeremy?

Elsa and the old Master talked some more before leaving the chapel. He did not offer her an explanation for the two incidents - love at first sight and Jeremy’s story.

He told her that it was Jeremy’s story to tell.

She found the McConnells still seated on the bench outside Jeremy's room. “Follow me!” That’s all Elsa said before turning around.

They arrived at the police station and asked to see Esther Rowland. A female police officer took them to where Esther was being held - in one of the holding cells in the police station.

They found Esther seated in the cell all by herself, playing with her fingers. Elsa moved closer to the rails of the cell and held them with both hands.

Her parents were right behind her, observing what Esther was doing.

“Hello, Esther Rowland!”Elsa called out to her, her face showing nothing but hatred and anger for the woman who killed her mother.

Esther stopped what she was doing and looked up to see Elsa standing in front of her, with her biological parents behind her.

“I told you I would make you pay for what you did to my mother, didn’t I? And now, it's time for payback.”

Esther was calm as she got up and started walking towards Elsa. She stood next to Elsa, looking her in the eye calmly.

Afraid that Esther might try to hurt Elsa, the McConnells rushed forward and stood next to her, ready to protect and defend her if Esther tried anything.

But Esther pouted as tears started rolling down her cheeks suddenly. “Elsa Gloria Halverson. Please forgive me for what I did to you and your family.”

She then turned to the McConnells. “Rosanna, James, let me tell you the truth today. Maybe it will help with my guilt... I lied to you both. Victoria is my biological daughter, not yours. Your true child is Elsa, and her twin sister is Gwen.”

When Rosanna heard that, she started crying immediately. “You tricked us this entire time? Victoria was never my daughter?... Why would you do this? You’re a mother too, why would you do that to me?”

Esther kept crying as she said, “Greed, Rosanna. I was greedy for money. I wanted to live a comfortable life that I knew I couldn’t afford, and I saw you as my ticket to that life.”

James looked Esther in the eye and said with anger in his voice, “Explain to us exactly how you came up with this entire plan to trick us into believing Victoria was our daughter. And how the DNA test we did on Victoria showed us she was our child.”

When James found out that Victoria framed Elsa twice with the bracelet, and also got the story of how she paid thugs to rape and kill Elsa from Jeremy, he felt very relieved hearing Victoria wasn’t his child.

At that time, they had thought Elsa was Victoria’s sister, so the fact that she would try to hurt her own sister like that made James know she had a dark, evil heart.

Such a person as his daughter, no... He felt very happy she was not and they had been tricked.
