paulina's pov

i woke up the following morning, still a bit jet lagged. i rolled over on my bed trying to wake myself up. i realized i had work in an hour so i dragged myself out of bed and went to shower.

after i was dressed i did a quick makeup look and threw my hair in a claw clip. it was my first day back since last week. i was a bit nervous to face my colleagues in the office,  they were probably wondering where the hell i'd been.

i drove to work and entered the building. i greeted our receptionist, "hi abby" i smiled. "paulina! glad to see you back" she grinned. we exchanged goodbyes and i continued walking up to the office. 

i went to my cubicle and rested my bag on the desk and sat down. i sighed. i unlocked my phone to text oakley.

i smiled to myself. "hey paulina" i heard a familiar voice say. drake. "oh..hi drake.." i replied. "you were gone for a while, everything okay?" drake asked, peeking into my cubicle. first of all, why did he care? second of all, personal space

"oh- yeah everything's alright, why?" i said, rolling my chair a bit further away from him to gain some room. "well i just mean you were gone this whole week.. so i was just.. hey listen, was that your boyfriend that one night?" drake asked, furrowing his brows. 

i paused. one could say that oakley was my boyfriend. but oakley himself said that he didn't want to be public. but did i even want to let drake know i was technically still single? i get the feeling he likes me... and i'm not interested.

"it's complicated but yeah.. something like that" i said with a shy smile. i looked away, hinting i kinda wanted to end this convo. "he looked pretty intimidating, not gonna lie" drake said, nodding his head. intimidating? oak is literally a teddy bear

i laughed at his comment. "well if things ever get too complicated with him, you know where to find me" he winked. with that, drake returned to his own cubicle. i mentally gagged. 

i continued working through out the day. my break finally came and i left my cubicle to clock out for it. i had an hour for lunch so i went to my car to pick up some food.

i walked back up to the break room and began eating. i peeped drake and some other guys chatting and saw drake nod in my direction. i just scarfed down a chicken strip and minded my business. again, NOT interested.

my break was over and i went back to my cubicle and continued working. can't believe i missed this over being with oak. i miss him.

more time went by and eventually it was time to clock out. i saw it was already dark outside so i grabbed my things and hurried home.

i laid my things on the kitchen counter and went to the pantry to grab a snack. i opened my phone to text oakley and let him know i was home.
