When the police enter the apartment, they are dismayed. They thought they had seen a lot, but it smells and looks like an animal's den. The walls, the floor are soaked in blood. On the counter, they even find a blender still full of a viscous red substance that smells extremely bad.

Obviously, it's the blender that Richard Chase used to prepare his "smoothies."

Inside the refrigerator, the police find pieces of animal corpses, as well as parts of the victims' bodies.

During his interrogation by the FBI, Richard Chase rambles completely.

Richard explained that he was Jewish and that he was being persecuted by the Nazis because he had a Star of David on his forehead

He explained that the Nazis were in contact with UFOs and that they were all after him.

Nonsense...

On May 8, 1979, a jury found Richard Chase guilty of six counts of first-degree murder.

The defense requested a leniency hearing. They wanted to play up Richard Chase's mental health by explaining that he had mental health issues that drove him to commit his acts. But the judge declared that Richard Chase was acting and was not truly insane.

When he arrived in prison, Richard Chase became a pariah. Some inmates hated him, but all, without exception, were terrified of him. So terrified that they didn't dare to get close to kill him. So, for months, they tried to push him to commit suicide.

On December 26, 1981, a guard found Richard lying on his bed in a somewhat odd position. When he approached him, he realized that he wasn't breathing anymore. Richard Chase was dead. The autopsy determined that the young man had committed suicide by overdosing on antidepressants. This treatment was prescribed by the prison doctor, but instead of taking his medication daily, he saved it in blister packs to be able to kill himself.

The end.

I have a big thought for the victims, especially for Jason, who was only 6 years old, and also for his cousin David, who was only 22 months old.

A lesson to learn from this chapter: please, lock your doors securely!
