Chapter 32 | Miserable

-It feels like the world stops spinning. Like nothing else matters anymore. He's dead and I never got to say goodbye to him. I'm pregnant and now this baby is never gonna know who their father was. Is this how Maggie feels? How does she get through it all I keep thinking about is the last time I saw him. It was a day before we all went to the sanctuary. We did our normal goodbye. Said I love you to each other, but now I wish I could talk more with him. I don't know what to do and I just feel like I am going to fall apart. All I've been doing for the last few hours is pacing around the hilltop trying to find anything to do to stop feeling this way. I end up at the stables and Alden and another savior is cleaning them.
-Alden must notice the way I'm acting because he stops cleaning and asks a question that everyone hears.
-"Are you alright Ava." He asks loudly.
-"How do you know her name?" Maggie asks.
-"I met her on the road a long time ago." He says.
-"Oh Ava never mentioned that." Maggie says.
-"Ava can I have a word with you." Maggie says.
-We walk away from the others.
-"When were you going to tell me you know one of the prisoners?"
-"I didn't think it really mattered." I say. I zone out completely on the next thing she says and keep replaying the last time I spoke to Carl.
-"Ava." Maggie says and I snap back to reality.
-"What?" I say.
-"Did you even hear a word I just said?" She asks.
-"No." I say.
-"Ava look I'm not trying to be mean. And I know you just heard the worst news but there are still things we need to do. So who is the prisoner? How do you know him?"
-"His name is Alden. I met him on the road with my dad. He was with my dad when he disappeared. He told me my dad was alive the last time he saw him. Look Maggie I'm not in the mood to talk about this." I say and walk away.
-"Rick's here." I hear Kal yell from the watch post.
-I walk over and see Rick and Michonne walk in looking completely destroyed. Rick takes Judith from Barbara and just walks away without a word.
-Michonne walks over to me and hands me a letter.
-"It's from Carl." She says and walks away.
-I look at the folded piece of paper that simply says Ava on it. I just stare at it but don't have it in me to read it. I fold it up smaller and just put it in my back pocket.
