Chapter Sixty - Epilogue

Start from the beginning

Sweet Pea's arms wrapped around my waist as I turned around to peck him on the lips. "Charlie convinced me to let her be a Serpent so I told her she could be on trial for a year before making that decision permanently." Sweet Pea smiled at me as we sat down on the lounge together, one of his arms resting on my shoulder as I cuddled into his side.

"Let me guess she used Michael as an excuse to why she should join." I looked up with a disapproving look on my face before confirming Sweet Pea's suspicions. "She knew if I said no she could just ask you to initiate her straight away so I reasoned with her."

"I'm sorry once again. I didn't even realise our children had to be initiated I assumed that happened at birth that's why I didn't think it was a big deal by making it official. Where is she? I'll talk to her about it." Sweet Pea's apology made me smile but I shook my head at his offer.

"It's okay I understand why you did it. I guess I was trying to protect Charlie from the downsides of our world but she reminded me that we were Serpents as children and despite it all we still ended up safe and happy. Besides she's at Noah's again." I added the last bit softly, already knowing Sweet Pea would disapprove.

"Seriously? She's at Mantle's? I thought we were done with Reggie 15 years ago but instead he went and spawned an attractive male that our daughter can't help but fawn over." His agitation made me kiss him softly on the lips before speaking up.

"She's not dating Noah and even if she was we wouldn't have to worry about him breaking her heart or hurting her, if anything we should worry about Noah's safety - Charlie takes after the both of us, hell she's tougher than the two of us combined, she's perfectly capable of handling herself plus Reggie has tried to make his peace with you multiple times over the years it's about time you accept it and move on, he is our neighbour after all."

"Ugh don't remind me. Why is it that when we moved back here he just so happened to purchase the house across the road? Seriously out of everywhere he chose this street." Sweet Pea scoffed slightly as his eyes travelled to the window in front of us which provided us the perfect view of his house.

"It's not his fault, we were barely moved in when his wife bought the place. It's a good neighbourhood to raise our children in - besides I doubt he waited to see where we settled down so he could cause your discomfort, despite how entertaining it may be." Standing up I made my way into the kitchen to figure out what we were having for dinner.

"I can't believe our children are so grown up. I don't want to think about Charlie dating when she's so young." Sweet Pea held a sad look on his face as he began chopping up the vegetables in order to help me out.

"You do realise we were doing way worse than 'dating' at her age right?" I reminded Sweet Pea, my arms wrapping around his waist causing him to turn around and smile down at me. "I may need some reminding, my minds getting foggy with old age." A smirk appeared on his face as his hand rested underneath my chin kissing me, the kiss was tender as we savored what little alone time we were blessed with. His hands rested on my waist before picking me up and placing me on the kitchen bench, our lips never parting. The kiss became passionate as our tongues entwined, my hands in Sweet Pea's hair as his hands rested on my ass. I couldn't help but moan softly as his lips met the sweet spot behind my ear, my back arching slightly at the soothing contact. Pulling him back up to me I kissed him again before we were disrupted by the sudden sound of disgust coming from behind us.

"Ugh mom, dad! seriously something I never needed to see. My eyes are burning!" Michael dramatically exclaimed as we pulled apart before he began running back upstairs, hiding my face in Sweet Pea's chest after jumping off the counter I couldn't help but laugh.

"Love you son!" Sweet Pea yelled after him before the two of us looked at each other as laughter filled the room. Shaking our head at our sons reaction we went back to preparing dinner with smiles on our faces.

"I love you so much. Thank you for blessing me with this gorgeous yet crazy family." Sweet Pea smiled down at me as he continued chopping the vegetables up.

"I love you more. Without you we wouldn't be the same and for that I'm eternally grateful. We're together no matter what." The smile hadn't left my face as we continued small talk, it was always amazing to me how we still held so much love for each other over the years, we grew together and improved as people and in hand our relationship grew with us. We've seen couples break up and some reunite but none had remained as strong as the two of us. We had been blessed with the possibility of an incredible family and we remembered that every single day. We knew nothing would ever tear us apart. We were together for life and I couldn't imagine changing that for the world.

The end.
