Y/n skillfully leaped from one rock to the other. Scaling down the waterfall swiftly and efficiently.
It was a New Year's Eve and it was already night. He wanted to see his dear friend that he has known for years.
The wolf's bare feet landed on a small puddle with a splash. He smiled as he looked at the large lake before him.
Y/n quickly ran on the edge in search of his friend. A tuff of dark brown hair above the water peaked his interest.
"Kai-San!" Y/n called out, very happy that he found his friend.
The tuff of brown turned its head. It than disappeared in the water.
Y/n waited for a bit. Than a splash could be heard.
"Y/n!! Its been so long since I've seen you!" Kai said as he leaped out of the water and hugged the wolf.

Like Y/n, Kai was the last of their species. But unfortunately, cannot reproduce with other kinds.
"How've you been? I saw the bond fire! Are you alright?" The brunette fired questions after questions.
The old giggled at his worried friend. Oh, how he missed him.
"I-I've been fine! Now enough worrying and lets just be happy that we are b-both still alive," Y/n said.
Kai smiled and nodded, their wavy hair bouncing. Although, Kai's eyes were covered, the wolf could tell that the male's eyes were filled with joy.
Kai hugged the wolf again, "I'm so glad you're alive. I don't what I would do if I didn't have you."
The wolf blushed at the comment but thought nothing of it. You can love your best friend, right? Right?
Anyways, Y/n hugged back and buried his face in the other's neck. They both stayed like that for a bit.
"The moon should be at its peek soon," the dolphin mumbled.
Y/n just hummed. Not really wanting to let go.
"Then lets stay like this. Its shows that we will always be together no matter what," the wolf mumbled back.
The grey skinned brunette chuckled a bit before laying down. Dragging the wolf with him of the edge of the lake's grass.
"Noo I want to hug," Y/n whined playfully.
"We can cuddle, you puppy. Plus we can see the stars and moon from down here."
Y/n looked up at the night sky. It was so beautiful.
"Happy new year, puppy," Kai said.
"Happy new year, fishy," Y/n said back.
Y/n turned to his side and snuggled up to the surprisingly warm body next to him. Kai wrapped one arm around the smaller, as if protecting him.
The wolf's eyes slowly began to droop, "Thank you," were his last words before falling asleep.
Kai smiled at the, now sleeping, male beside him, "No. Thank you for always being there for me," he said, even though knowing that the other wouldn't hear.
