Chapter 18: 𝐹𝑙𝑦 𝐴𝑤𝑎𝑦

The gunshots soon came to a stop.
The crows and wolf were still on the ground, with the wolf on top of Kageyama and Nishinoya.

The wolf was the first to open his eyes.
(E/c) eyes landed on a tree that took the misfortune to be attacked with the bullets.

The once stable tree looked like it could fall right over.
The wolf gritted his sharp teeth and let out a low growl.

The (h/c) wolf swiftly stood up from the ground and turned to see the humans.
There were only two of them there. One seemed to be a rookie.

The wolf could easily attack and kill them, but his friends and their friends were here.
The space around them was crowded, one wrong move and a bullet can go straight for a crow.

Slowly, the crows all opened their own eyes.
Some sat up while some proped themselves on their elbows.

"Y-Y/n-San?" Hinata managed to crook out.

The wolf glanced back at his friends.
His glare softened.

Hinata and Asahi both looked at the wolf with desperate eyes as if saying, 'Don't go yet'.
Kageyama and Nishinoya watched the wolf in awe. They were surprised that a 'thief' saved them.
Suga, well, he had the look of sorry in his eyes. He had judged the wolf when they first meet, and now he regretted it.

The wolf smiled a nervous smile.
A gun cocked, making everyone flinch in their place.

The wolf breathed in and out.

"Fly," he said simply.

Suga took the chance and spread his wings, along with Kageyama and Nishinoya.
Asahi hesitated for a bit before doing the same.

"No!" Hinata cried out as he watched his puppy friend dash to the humans who aimed their guns.

Kageyama and Nishinoya shot to the sky with Asahi following.
Sugawara came to Hinata's side to prevent him from running to the wolf.

"Come on Hinata! We have to fly!!"

"No!! He's my friend!! He'll get killed!!" The orange-ette yelled as tears started to build up.

Suga's expression saddened but he still held onto the younger one.
The silver-ette spread his wings larger and flew in the sky with a crying Hinata in his arms.

The crows flew in place as they watched the fight from above.
All they heard were gunshots, rustling of plants, and yells of either pain or commands.

Hinata constantly moved around in Suga's hold, desperately trying to get out as wanted to help his friend.
Tears fell down the younger's face as he kept on yelling.

"No! No!! Let me down!! Let me help!! I need to help him!!"

The others watched in sadness as they have never seen their friend in so much desperation for one person.
Asahi himself was crying too, but silently.

The wolf had an impact on the two crows.
He made them happy when they were sad, he made them feel wanted even though the wolf barely even knew them.

"Hinata! Stop it right now!!"
"Hinata there's nothing we can do!!"
"Boke stop moving around!!"
The trio yelled.

"No!! I have to help!! He can't die yet!! His family died already, he can't lose to the humans now!!"

Everyone paused their yelling.
They didn't know the wolf's backstory.

Suga's grip loosen in shock.
Hinata took this as a chance and slipped out of the older's hold.

"Hinata!!" Suga called out as he watched the crow dive down.

"H-Hinata!!" Asahi cried as he followed the orange-ette.

"Asahi-San!!"

Then, Hinata and Asahi's heart dropped when they heard a gunshot than a cry or yelp from the wolf.
They both paused mid air with terrified expressions on their face.

"No... no no no no," Hinata said softly.

The other crows flew at towards them with wide eyes.
They too heard the sickening sound.

"No... he can't..." Asahi muttered.

Hinata breathed in sharply before diving in again to the ground.
Asahi followed, along with the other crows.

The orange crow stumbled on his feet as he landed.
His brown eyes searched the area for, even a speck, of (h/c).

Asahi followed the younger one and searched with him.
The other crows just followed aimlessly.

They both came to a stop.
This made the other's behind them stop as well.

"G-guys?" Suga stuttered as he followed their sight of vision. He gasped.

Two of the humans that were obviously dead.
One with a bite mark on their neck and two stab wounds.
The other with multiple scratches on the face and chest while holding a bloody pistol.

Noya gagged at the sight.
Kageyama stared blankly at it in shock.

Hinata's eyes searched everywhere and noticed a pool of fresh red blood.
Asahi noticed the pool of blood leading away.

"He- He was shot and ran away," Asahi concluded.

Sugawara looked at the odd duo in pity.
He placed a hand on Asahi's shoulder and one on top of Hinata's head.

"He'll be fine," the eldest crow reassured, "I can tell he is strong, he will live."

'Hopefully,' everyone thought.
