Aaliyah’s POV

Knowing she would ask me too many questions, I hesitated for a moment but I got no choice but to go with her.

“Aaliyah, darling, you don’t remember Paul. Do you?” panimula niya.

I bit my lower lip, trying to hide the uneasiness that was already occupying my body.

What are the consequences if I do tell her the truth? What will the outcome be? Does this girl know me all my life? Could she possibly give justice on who she is in my life?

“You don’t have to worry about telling the truth, my dear,” saad niya nang mapansing hindi ako kumikibo. “I know Paul is just afraid to tell me he has broken his promise to my daughter.”

“Tita, I’m sorry.”

“What are you saying sorry for?”

I shook my head. “H-honestly, h-hindi ko po alam.”

“See? You don’t have to say that because you don’t have to. And there’s nothing to say sorry about, Aaliyah.”

“I knew him since he was a kid. He and my daughter have been very close friends since then. But my daughter, Nelle, passed away two years ago.”

“N-Nelle?”

Tita Sandra nodded and then let go of my hand. “Siya ang anak ko, Aaliyah. You’ve been friends with her, not until she discovered you’re the girl Paul likes.”

“P-po?”

“You still have a lot to know, Aaliyah. But I don’t know everything about you,” tumingin siya sa paligid at saka ako nginitian. “The past years have been really tough for Paul. I hope you’d still find forgiveness in your heart. Just do me a favor, will you?”

“My daughter, Nelle, before she passed away, asked me to watch over Paul. She asked me to make sure he will finally be happy with you.”
