By the time we left the bakery it was late morning. We spent what felt like forever reminiscing and catching up with each other – it was really the first time I got to hear about what Harry had been up to, something I found myself wondering every once in a blue moon over the years when I came across pictures of the two of us together when we were young. I listened to him so intently, but even more so then hearing the words he spoke, I took him in as a whole. I noticed the way his eyes stared at my lips when I talked, and the way his deep toned voice spoke slowly and carefully – freeing butterflies from the cage in my stomach with each and every word. I could listen to the sound of his voice forever, and if it were up to me I’m sure that I would. With every word I felt myself fall deeper into this… feeling I had for him. I couldn’t explain it; there was just this… this almost magnetic force between us that I never wanted to break.

The two of us were in our own little world. We sat at a table by the window in the crowded bakery; people passed by taking a glimpse at Harry, and the obvious fan of a waitress repeatedly asked if we needed anything, but we never took our eyes off each other. I didn’t even realize that Harry was famous – we were just so comfortable sitting laughing and talking with each other – picking up where we left off as seven year old kids just playing around.

“We should probably bring the boys their breakfast, I’m sure they’re up by now” Harry had finally said. I dreaded leaving already but followed behind him out the door.

“Excuse me sir! Oh my gosh I’m so sorry” Harry said bumping into an older man who was on his way in as we were going out.

“No no, its okay son” he said and looked up at Harry who towered over him. Then he looked to me and back to Harry and smiled “You two kids make a beautiful couple” he said. As if by instinct we both stammered out “Oh, we’re not –“ but he was already on his way into the shop. Harry’s eyes met mine and I smiled at him awkwardly, suddenly feeling sad. I couldn’t help but wish that we were a couple, but quickly faced the truth that we were just old friends.

We were making our way to the car when suddenly I was distracted by something in the distance. “The lake!” I yelped excitedly remembering all the summers we spent jumping off the dock together “Can we take a detour?” I asked hopefully as we buckled our seatbelts and Harry’s eyes lit up.

“I’d love to.”

HARRY

We sat at the edge of the dock with our feet dangling in the water. I looked around me taking in the landscape: the luscious trees surrounded the crystal clear water, glimmering from the morning sun shining above it. All of nature surrounded us, and the best view of all was sitting just beside me. Charlie’s hair cascaded down her back in gentle waves, and her eyes sparkled from the reflection of the blue sky. She was absolutely breathtaking: she made me lose myself. She made me smile and laugh and forget what time it was or where we were. I couldn’t help but stare at how simply beautiful she was.

“You’re doing it again,” she’d noticed.

I smiled cheekily “I just can’t help it!”

Her eyes met mine and we stared deeply at each other for what felt like an eternity but I hardly minded. I felt myself getting lost in her marbled blue eyes, my body instinctively being pulled toward hers, our faces just inches apart. I felt my cheeks flush as I got closer to her and she let out a faint, almost inaudible whisper, “Do you feel it?” I broke our stare and glanced at her lips, craving the feeling of them on mine. She moved toward me, our lips just about to crash the way they did just the night before –

BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

We both jumped back, startled by the loud vibration that was coming from my pocket. God damnit. Who could be calling me now, who was ruining this almost perfect moment? I regretfully slid my phone out of my pocket and glared at the incoming call. Louis. How typical.
