After being given a tour of the Mclaren garage and hospitality areas I was left to my own devices for a while as it was only Friday and the first practice session had just started, I still felt a bit awkward walking around the garage by myself until this other girl came up to me and told me I look like a lost lamb. I of course awkwardly laughed and introduced myself.
"Oh gosh I definitely feel like a lost lamb, this place is huge."
"Yeh it is pretty big but you'll get used to it. I'm Flo by the way."
"Izzie."
"Would you like to come and sit with me and my family?"
"Are you sure? That would be lovely thankyou."
Flo nodded and started walking towards the garage on Lando's side, I was guessing he knew them somehow, maybe a sponsor?
After introducing myself to them I found out it was Lando's family and I felt like a complete idiot, they were all so sweet and I'm sure I came off like a total bitch, as usual.
The practice session ended and Lando was wheeled back into his garage but before I could get a word in I heard the laugh of the famous Australian, Daniel Ricciardo, and he was walking over to me at a rate of knots.
"Oh my god you're the girl we saw yesterday in the café, he actually got the balls to ask you to come this weekend?"
"Yeh I guess so" I replied not really knowing what to say.
"Anyway how was the session Riccy boy?"
I had a thing for nicknames, I am awful at remembering peoples names but I remember nicknames more but I didn't have time to explain it so "Riccy boy" it was.
"Yeh it was good, I mean I didn't have any wing damage so you know I'm a real professional driver unlike my teammate."
"You're going to hurt his feelings" I laughed back at him.
"Who's feelings are going to get hurt?" Lando interjected.
Simultaneously me and Daniel replied
"No ones"
"Oh I see how it is" giving a sly look at his teammate.
"Hey Izzie, you okay?"
"Yeh I'm good thank you, your session looked pretty solid apart from the wing damage out of turn 7"
"Yeh-"
"You could reduce the chances by going a bit deeper out of 6 and onto the curb more of 7"
"How do you know that"
"Magic"
With that conversation over I walked over to the buffet, oh my gosh this buffet is huge I am going to need at least 2 of everything here. I sat down on my table and started munching away on these beautiful slices of pizza that I don't think could be beaten when Flo came over and sat opposite me.
"Hi?" I questioned her
"Hey, you know my brother, Lando, the slightly stupid one?"
"Yeh" I replied cautiously
"Well when you told him how to stop getting wing damage he went over to his race engineer and he said the exact same thing to him, how do you know that"
I winked at her and smiled, continuing to eat my pizza.
After a while I was just looking at my phone scrolling through some footage from the sessions, I missed the second practice session because I was too busy eating all this food, so by now it was around 5pm. I then heard a conversation behind me that was getting closer to me, I turned around to find Daniel and Lando standing about 2 feet away from me, staring at me.
"Hello?"
"Oh oh erm hi" Lando frantically replied
"You know it's a bit rude to stare at people and not say anything?"
"Yeh sorry about that I was just wondering if you erm wanted to come back to the hotel and have dinner with me and the team?"
"And me!!" Daniel shouted
"As much as I'm flattered by your offer I have a bed at home calling my name I will have to say no."
I could tell Lando was slightly taken aback by this and Daniel was chuckling at my response and the bewildered look on his teammates face.
With that being said I got up and put my plate on the side and started walking out the door of the hospitality,
"Good luck tomorrow by the way" I said as I walked out the door
"She totally owned you dude" Daniel said to his teammate whilst nudging his shoulder.
"Shut up" Lando retorted and walked out the door to go back to his hotel.

I returned to my apartment at around 8pm, I stayed by the harbour for a while just people watching and watching the sun set. I opened my apartment door and the plants I had been collecting looked like they were about to pass away so I quickly watered them all and poured myself a glass of water as well. I poured myself a glass of wine - a rather large glass - and sat on my sofa taking in all of the things I saw today.
I had never seen an F1 car close up before and I realised how intricate they are and how small the drivers cockpit actually was. It was definitely an experience I wanted to have more often, I absolutely loved it, the atmosphere and everything pumping with adrenaline ahead of the weekend. I didn't express my opinions on the weekend publicly because preferring the qualifying in Monaco was slightly controversial to say the least.
My apartment was chaotic to say the least, there were bright blues and greens on the walls and bright furniture and decorations all over the place. It somehow always looked good, well that's what people always said. My room however was quite the opposite I thought it was very calming, full of plants hanging from my shelves and growing from the pots on the floor, my bed had neutral stone coloured sheets and the walls were covered in tapestries, I had a small wardrobe with the small amount of clothes I had. Including one dress I bought on impulse that I thought was absolutely gorgeous, it was a dark emerald green ball gown with a corset style top half with some lighter green lace detailing on.
As I walked around my apartment I finally decided to stop and go to sleep, changing into an oversized t-shirt.
