It's Halloween tonight and I'm very excited. Halloween is the best night of the year, I know I'm supposed to be an adult and all but to hell with it, it's just one night, I can do what I want. With all the stress from my job it's nice to have a night off.
I'm going to go trick or treating with my best friend Arthur Kirkland. I'm dressing up as (f/ch) which is my favourite character of all time. Arthur is dressed up as a wizard for the third year in a row. We've been best friends for a long time and we've been through so much together.
He has told me his biggest secret, he is a werewolf. It's not completely shocking, we live in a world with were wolves and humans however he doesn't want people to know because he also practises magic which can lead to dangerous things with other werewolves.
Apparently they have a hierarchy system where certain werewolves are born as alphas and they get to control other werewolves. Arthur's older brother, Allistor, was born as an alpha. Arthur and his brothers don't get along so he moved out and lives with me.
I've met Allistor a few times and he seems a little strange, his personality is very out there and he is definitely someone made for leadership. He has been nice to me but he gives off a weird vibe. I know I shouldn't get mixed up with werewolves so I don't talk to them much.
"Ready to go (Y/n)?" Arthur asks
"Yeah, lets go." I say grabbing my bag and walking out the front door
We walk outside and immediately there are a few groups of people out trick or treating. We decide to head to the next neighbour over so they don't recognise us.
"Hey how many of these people do you think are actually werewolves and how many are costumes?" I ask
"About half and half, I can smell them all." Arthur smiles
"You made sure your scent is masked right?" I whisper
"Yeah, really the only ones who should be able to tell are the members of my family, but we don't have to worry about them." Arthur chuckles
We make our way to the next neighbourhood and begun to knock on doors. After getting a few strange looks people are willing to give us candy. We fill our bags up completely and then begin the trek home.
"We have to check for drugs and weapons." I say
"Nope, I can smell things like that." Arthur smiles
"I'm going to anyway, remember last year?" I ask
"Look it was one time, I didn't mean to let you almost cut your tongue on a razor." He states
"Arthur?" A voice asks behind us
We turn to see a pair of twins dressed up as George and Fred, they have red hair and freckles. Ohh I know them, Liam and Seamus, Arthur's older brothers.
"What are you wankers doing here?" Arthur asks
"Aww is that any way to greet your older brothers?" Liam asks
"Come on (y/n), lets go." Arthur states softly grabbing my hand and pulling me away
As we turn around there are two more guys. One with brown hair and a bandaid on his nose and one with light brown hair with two coils on either side dressed up as a sheep. Jett and Toby, more of Arthur's brothers.
"G'day Arthur, it's been a while." Jett smiles
"We need to get out of here." Arthur whispers to me
"Leaving so soon?" Seamus asks
"Yes, we've finished trick or treating, we're going home." I say and Arthur and I walk past the
"Oh well we actually have a reason for finding you." Toby says in a soft voice
"We need to talk with you about a mating partner, Mum and Dad found one for you." Liam smiles
"Not interested." Arthur replies and continues walking
"Also Allistor put in a request to see (Y/n)." Seamus states
Arthur freezes and slowly turns around to look at them. Their ears and tails suddenly droop and I think it's in fear.
"As if I'd let that bastard anywhere near her." Arthur shouts
We finally manage to walk away from them and get back into out neighbourhood. We open up the front door to our house but it is already unlocked. After giving each other a worried look we step inside.
We hear a sound and Arthur steps in front of me to protect me. We walk silently into the house and in the living room there is someone sitting on the lounge drinking whiskey straight out of the bottle. His red hair and ears make him stand out, I can also see a red tail swishing.
Alistor... this isn't going to end well.
"Oh yer back, you need stronger whiskey." He says turning around and facing us, his green eyes shining
"What are you doing here you twat?" Arthur shouts
"I came to get you, Mum and Dad want you to at least meet your potential mate, he's an alpha if that helps." Allistor says plainly
"I already said no, I don't need a mate." Arthur sighs and walks into the kitchen leaving me with Allistor
"Well it's been a while lass, I've been waiting to see you." Allistor says walking over to me "You look beautiful."
"Allistor, it's a Halloween costume. Now do you need anything else?" I ask
"I need to stay here for the night, I'm havin' an issue with another alpha and I have to stay away from my house or else my family could be brought into it." He sighs
"So you're hiding, well I'll make you up one of the guest rooms but try to stay out of Arthur's way." I smile
"Thank you lass." He says placing his hand on my forehead
I blush slightly and turn away, I walk out of the living room and tell Arthur that Allistor will be staying with us tonight. Needless to say he wasn't happy, but there wasn't anything he could do.
After I make up the guest room and change out of my costume I head to the living room to see the two of them arguing.
"I know the real reason you came here, you want to make (Y/n) your mate." Arthur states
"What's it to you? Do you love her?" Allistor asks
"No, she is my best friend and she can do better than an alcoholic." Arthur states
Allistor wraps his hand around Arthur's neck and Arthur hits his chest. Allistor lets him go but his eyes remain dark.
"I'm not an alcoholic." Alistor glares
"Really because when we came in you were drinking." Arthur smirks "I don't want to stay here with you anymore, I'm going to stay at my friends house, don't mess with (Y/n)."
Arthur grabs his bag and walks out, I step away from the door frame but apparently Allistor smelt me there.
"Not so fast lass, eavesdropping ain't nice." He says
His tail swishes around behind him and his ears perk up as I walk out from around the corner.
"Sorry, I was just curious as to what was happening." I sigh sitting down on the couch
"Ahh, it's alright lass." He states sitting next to me "Do you know where Arthur is going?"
"Yeah, most likely Alfred place." I state "They're pretty close."
"Aren't you worried he'll replace you as Arthur's best friend?" Allistor asks
Apparently he doesn't understand what I mean when I say they are close.
"No I don't really think they're going to be best friends..." I say holding back laughter
His face turns red with a blush as he understands what I mean
"Ohh, no wonder he doesn't want to meet a mate." Allistor says embarrassed "Is he a werewolf?"
"Yeah he is. According to Arthur he is an alpha." I answer "Is what Arthur said true?"
"About the real reason I came?" He asks
"Yeah." I reply
"And if it is lass?" He questions
I need him brush some of my (h/l) (h/c) hair away from my ear and I turn to meet his green eyes.
"Why?" I whisper "Why me? We don't know each other that well."
"But we do." He states moving closer to me "Alphas can tell the first time they meet someone in they're their mate. I got that feeling when I first me you."
"So what do we do?" I ask
He kisses my temple softly and I feel his tail brush against my back
"Well would you want to be my mate?" He asks
"I don't know, I have always wanted a soulmate." I say smiling
He hugs me tightly and kisses my hair.
"But I'm not a werewolf?" I ask
"Alphas can have pups that are fully werewolf even if they are mated with humans so that doesn't matter." He says and kisses my cheek
"You know Arthur isn't going to be happy." I giggle
He pushes me down and hovers over me.
"I don't care." He says and presses his lips to mine and I kiss back straight away
I know I don't know him that well but this feels so right. We pull away and he smiles softly.
