Training Room...
Austin's POV
Over the past week I had learned the basics of every known Grimm along with faunuses; Pretty much humans with animalistic traits. They sounded a hell of a lot cooler than the Exos, or even the Awoken, though they are treated just the same.
In the Training Area, we watched as Jaune was getting his ass kicked by Cardin. As Cardin was about to deliver the final blow, Ms. Goodwitch ended the match, with a lecture about auras and about the Vytal Festival Tournament. Something I really had no real interest in. The class itself came to an end, and with that, we went to lunch. Nora was telling us a totally real story.
Nora: It was in the middle of the night.
Ren: It was day.
Nora: We were surrounded by Ursai.
Ren: Beowulves.
Nora: Dozens of them!
Ren: Two.
Nora: But they were no match! And in the end, Ren and I took them down and made a boat load of Lien selling Ursa skin rugs.
Ghost: Well that was... Interesting.
It was something.
Pyrrha: Jaune... Are you okay?
Jaune: Yeah. I'm fine. Look at me. See?
Austin: Your smile is more fake than Cayde's stories.
Blake: Cayde?
Whoops.
Austin: A hunter I knew growing up.
Blake: Never heard of him.
You don't want to.
Austin: Wasn't expecting you to.
I look back at what Jaune was seeing and saw team CRDL with a rabbit faunus.
The hell are they doing?
Pyrrah: Jaune. You've let Cardin pick on you since the first week of school.
Juane: Cardin. Nah. He just likes to mess around.
Ruby: He's a bully.
And there it is.
Jaune: He's not just a jerk to me. He's a jerk to everyone.
Everyone noticed he was pulling on the young woman's ears.
???: Ow! That hurts!
Cardin: See? I told you they were real.
Goddamn idiots...
I stood up.
Ruby: Austin? What are you doing?
I approached them. I forgot my gloves, but at the time I didn't care. The metallic hand grabbed his left wrist, loosing his grip of the fauns's ears while my normal hand grabbed his head and slammed it against the table.
Austin: Could you kindly explain to me why you're pulling on someone's ears like a fucking child!?
He struggled to try to get his head up, his lackeys stunned by the action. I slowly started to rotate his arm causing just enough to nearly break his shoulders.
Austin: Explain, or I start breaking!
Cardin: I'm sorry man. Just let go.
Austin: You will apologize to her.
I heard him whisper.
Cardin: Like hell I will.
Austin: Well, what do I have here? A fucking comedian. Cardin, the Joker.
I drove my knee through his elbow, hearing bone and ligaments break from the force. He screamed in agony as I tossed his body aside, the entire cafeteria watched with a range of emotions. Ignoring the crowd, I went to help the young faunus up.
Austin: You okay?
???: Huh?
She was hesitant at first, but I insisted that she took my hand and picked her up.
Austin: What's your name ma'am?
???: It's... Velvet.
Austin: Austin. It's a pleasure to meet you. If you need any kind of help, I'm always with them.
Velvet: Oh. Umm. Okay. Thank you.
She left the cafeteria and I sat back to where I was sitting and got mixed reviews. Weiss seemed mad, Traveler knows why. She's quite the critic. Blake was smiling a bit, Nora, Ruby, and Yang were... well, excited. Jaune was nervous, probably for the future, and Pyrrha and Ren were staring at my left hand.
Son of a bitch.
Jaune: Remind me not to make you mad. Like ever.
Ghost: Now that you've vented your anger, was that necessary?
Yeah. It was.
Nora: Holy crap!! You broke his elbow!
Yang: That was pretty exciting to watch.
... not what I expected, but thanks for the compliment.
Ren: So Austin... What's with the hand?
Austin: What?
I looked down to see a bit of black, realizing the metallic hand was exposed.
Shit.
I hid my left hand under the table and hoped that he meant my right. Everyone, realizing my worry, became suddenly interested as well.
Ren: I know what I saw Austin.
Shut it.
Ruby: Is that why you wear gloves?
Shut your cookie eating hole!
Blake: I did see something metallic on your hand.
Fuck!
Austin: Look. Its a long story.
Ren: We're all ears. Probably better than Nora's dreams.
Nora: Hey!
Weiss: I agree with Ren. I want to know.
Yang: What is it?
Austin: Enough!
That finally shut everyone up, but unfortunately, I couldn't hide it forever. The more I answered, there would be just as many more. I would have to tell them the truth about me. Everything, down to the raid. Giving up, I sighed.
Austin: If you really want to know, meet me in team RWBY's dorm, after class.
I got up and left to Mr. Oobleck's class. When everryone arrived, he went on a caffeine binge telling us about faunus history. Honesty, I didn't understand a word the man said, so I had Ghost record the entire session. Jaune was sleeping, though to be honest, I would have done the same thing. Evidently Cardin quickly recovered from his injury, using it to throw a piece of paper at Jaune.
Jaune: Hey!
Oobleck: Mr. Arc. Finally contributing to our lesson. Lovely. What is the answer?
Jaune: Umm. The answer. Yeah. Its..
He looked around the classroom improvising.
Jaune: Binoculars.
Everyone began to laugh at him after hearing such a dumb answer.
Oobleck: Very funny. Cardin. Perhaps you would like to share your opinion on the issue?
Cardin: Well I know it's easier to train an animal than a soldier.
Pyrrha: You're not the open minded of individuals are you?
Cardin: What? You got a problem?
Pyrrha: No I have the answer. It's night vision.
Blake: General Lagoon was inexperienced and made the mistake of trying to ambush the faunus in their sleep. His massive army was outmatched, and the general was captured. Perhaps if he had paid attention in class he wouldn't have been remembered as such a failure.
I saw Cardin about to get up.
Austin: Mister Joker, If you plan to cause any harm to Blake, I will break both arms rather than just the one.
He sat right back down in defeat. Class ended and everyone went to their dorms except Jaune and Pyrrha.
Pyrrha: I need to go talk to Jaune.
She left with Jaune. As soon as I opened the door to my dorm, everyone was sitting there waiting.
I was actually hoping that you wouldn't come.
Ghost: They would.
Austin: Alright. Heres goes. Ghost.
I held out my hand.
Austin: Come on out.
Ruby: Ghost?
