Austin's POV
The girls and I entered our room and already found a downside: There were only 4 beds. They ran past me, jumping on their beds as the door opened.
RWBY: Mine!
Geez! They're like Hive Thralls when it comes to their beds.
Ruby: Wait a minute. Where will he sleep?
Yang: I know where he can sleep.
She winked at me, making me tilt my head sideways.
Did she just... No... She didn't. We just barely know each other.
Austin: I hope you weren't serious.
Yang: I wasn't. I meant over there silly.
Whew!
She pointed towards a bare corner that was big enough to sleep.
Blake: You sure about that?
Austin: It'll work. I'm gonna go change.
I went to the restroom to change out of my armor. I was about to take the helmet off before I just barely noticed a purple eye looking through the key lock.
You're worse than a man.
I put a towel over the door knob.
Yang: Aww! No fun!
Figured.
I took off the armor and had Ghost put it away while I changed into another hoodie; White with a red Titan vanguard logo on the front. I put up the hood and put on a pair of black sweatpants and a black cotton gloves. Leaving the bathroom, I saw everyone everyone asleep, but Blake. She just sat on her bed, reading her book with a candle by her side.
Might as well consider her asleep.
I put up my sleeping bag and immediate fell asleep, face buried in the pillow.
All I could see was darkness. A lone spark of light then appeared. I ran towards the light and it dropped to the floor creating a white line away from me. It started going up to create a Hive symbol. The symbol split in half to reveal a dark figure. I realized that I had no weapon and no armor.The dark figure emerged to be Oryx.
He flew towards me with hiz,massive wings, swiping his weapon at me.
RRAAAAHHH!
*Whistling noises!*
As I prepared for death, I woke up, panicking to a whistle.
Thank the Traveler it was just a nightmare, but goddamit, who did that!?
Weiss was in the same predicament as I was.
Ruby: Good morning team RWBY!! And Austin.
Weiss: What in the world is wrong with you!?
Ruby: Now that you're awake, we can start our first order of business.
Austin: And that is?
Yang: Decorating!
Weiss: What?
Blake: We still have to unpack.
Blake's bag opened up making a mess.
Blake: And clean up.
I look back at my little corner to see various piles of ammunition everywhere.
Austin: Good point.
As I cleaned up my area, I noticed they were hanging up their own taste of home: paintings, a boy band poster, fixing a drape that Ruby somehow destroyed, and creating a mountain of beds. I went to the bathroom to brush my teeth and to shower, putting on the same type of clothing but with a color scheme of red and white instead. Leaving the bathroom, the mountain of beds became makeshift bunk beds.
Yang: Hey Austin. Does this look awesome or what?
Austin: That looks beyond dangerous.
Yang: So is that a no?
Austin: 2/10. At least you tried.
She gave me a sad puppy dog look.
I'm not changing my mind. That is still unsafe.
Ruby: Next order of business. Classes! Now. We have one at 9:00 so-.
Weiss: Wait. Did you say 9?
Ruby: Yeah.
Weiss: Its 8:55, you dunce!
Oh shit.
She bailed out of the classroom while the rest of us chased her. As I got closer, I felt something on my back, but I didn't care at the time. I just needed to get to class. I had Ghost tell me the time down to the second.
Ghost: 8:59:45
I barely sae the classroom entrance. Weiss made it in.
Ghost: 8:59:50
The door was a lot farther down than I thought. I'm late... Unless...
Ghost: 8:59:55. Please don't do what I think you're doing. You have someone on you.
Don't care...wait...
I started to glow blue and decided to go for it. I lowered my head and slammed my shoulders at a wall, smashing through it into Mr. Port's classroom. Just as I had ran through, Ruby, Blake, and team JNPR ran by me using the hole in the wall.
Wait. Where's Yang?
Ruby: We're here!
Austin: Where's Yang?
I felt that little bit of weight come off me.
Yang: Well that was fun.
She walked right by me, smiling as I thought to myself.
Did she just jump on me as I ran through a wall? You son of a-.
Ghost: I tried to tell you.
Mr.Port: Mr. Austin, would you like to explain how you manage to put a hole through my classroom walls?
I came up with the first thing off the top of my head.
Austin: Strength training. Lots of it.
Ghost: Real smooth.
Mr. Port: We'll have a discussion about this stunt young man. As for the rest of you, please try to be here on time.
Well damn.
I went to go to the back when I felt a hand touch my shoulder.
Yang: Where are you going?
Austin: To the back.
Yang: Oh no you don't. You're staying with us.
Oh, come on!
Ghost: Not a few days in and already, you're being whipped around.
Austin: Fine.
I was forced to sit down with the team. More specifically next to Blake.
Thank the Traveler, a normal person.
As class started, the man just went on about his achievements and his childhood. If this guy would have seen even half the things I've seen, or even half of what most other guardians see, he'd be shitting bricks. Bored, I look over and noticed everyone else was just the same, with the exception of Weiss.
How she's entertained by this, I'll never know.
She volunteered to fight against a "Boarbatusk" whatever that is. Ruby tried to help Weiss, but I could see she was only getting angrier with her.
Ruby: C'mon Weiss. Show it who's boss!
Austin: Ruby. Please stop.
Weiss dropped her weapon but dodged the creatures charge running back for her weapon.
Ruby: Weiss. Go for it's belly. It the creatures weakness!
Weiss: Stop telling me what to do!
With aggression, she killed the beast. A few hours later, I stayed to talk to Mr. Port about the wall when Weiss came in between us.
Mr. Port: Why hello, Ms. Schnee!
Weiss: Hello professor. I-I enjoyed your lecture.
???
Mr. Port: Of course you did. You have the blood of a huntress in you, but so. Something's bothering you. Please confess your problem.
Weiss: Well....I think I should have been leader of team RWBY.
Austin: Oh, really now?
Weiss just noticed me here.
Weiss: Oh great. You.
Austin: Ozpin probably has his reasons for choosing Ruby as team leader.
Mr. Port: I must agree with the young man. Ozpin has never led me astray.
That wasn't what I meant, but okay.
Weiss: Even after seeing my exceptional skills, you're still with him?
Mr. Port: While you do have talent, you have just as much of an attitude.
Weiss: Hey!
Mr. Port: My point exactly.
Austin: Weiss. Just listen to me.
Weiss: Why?
Austin: Just do it.
I can sense her looking through my hood.
Austin: There's an old saying my mentor taught me: "The strength of the pack is the young wolf, and the strength of the young wolf is the pack." You know what that means?
She looked confused while Mr. Port looked impressed.
Austin: Course not. It means that it doesn't matter the role you play as a team, you are just as important as everyone else. While you do have talent, your attitude can be a drawback to not just you but to team RWBY. While I know Ruby can be a pain sometimes.
Weiss: That's putting it lightly.
Austin: She's a strange one, I agree, but it has only been the first day. Give her a chance to shine at least. As for yourself, don't try to be the best leader but try to be the best person that you can be. Not only will you be seen as an important figure on the team, but you might find yourself a lot more respected that way.
Ghost: Wow. You actually listened to Lord Saladin.... for once.
Weiss actually smiled at me and walked away.
Holy shit, she smiled. Quick, call Ikora and tell her I'm a warlock now.
Ghost: If I could, I would. And if she could, she would slap you for that.
Eh, true.
Timeskip: Midnight
Everyone was already asleep. Meanwhile I was working on making ammunition for Hawkmoon when I noticed Weiss coming into the dorm and talking to Ruby, mostly about being the best teammate she could be and all that. In that moment, I was proud of her. Kinda found it ironic.
A Warlock just took advice from a Titan and followed through on it. What has become of this world?
