!Third person's POV!
"Well. Well. Well. If it isn't the infamous Nova Stark"
Adelard clapped slowly and everybody's attention went towards Nova.
She didn't had her suit on.
She was just in a black legging and a shirt. Everybody could see her and maybe some of them could recognise her.
"Adelard" She just aknowledged him and looked around, surveying her surroundings.
They were standing on a crossroad with cars and vehicles blocking the four roads leaving a big circle just at the centre of the crossroad where they all stood.
People were on the footpaths watching with terror and some were even in their cars.
Avengers were at one corner of the crossroad with some sorcerers ready to kill them even if they move a muscle.
They all were on their kness, helpless and vulnerable.
Nova sighed at her surrounding. She also noticed many sorcerers and now she understood why Strange was so worried about his people. They were betraying him and conspiring against him. He was no where to be seen and that made her sigh in relief. He has still to wake up but when he does he will be mad.
"I am not very generous all the time but you are an exception. I am giving you one more chance to turn on them. Whatever you are planning won't work on me, kid! Join us! You belong to Asuroth"
Adelard exclaimed before a sickly grin took over his face.
"The world is watching us. They will watch the Avengers fall and I know you don't want to be with them when they do. Join us! People will bow to you!"
As they heard his words Tony somewhat got scared. Even though he knew that Nova would rather die that betraying them but his mind still thought for a moment where Nova made a deal with Adelard. Even he didn't knew the extent of her powers and it shook him to his core.
"What are you trying to implement, Einar. Look around you. These people are innocent, they haven't done anything to you" Nova tried to reason as she knew if she fight it won't end nicely so she decided to give her 100% for the last time.
"These people are pathetic, they are like ants and their lord is Volrath!"
She grimaced at the weird name as confusion overtook her senses.
Zeus never mentioned this Volrath. What the hell is that now?!
"What is Volrath?" She asked, she wanted to dely everything as much as she could. She knew that she won't be able to hold him till midnight passes but she could stall him enough so that the machines could be set up.
"He is the lord of Asuroth, the ruthless one, the one we worship and once the portal is opened, he will feed on these pathetic humans" Adelard laughed evilly as he pointed at the people listening to his words.
The people gasped and soon there was a commotion of people trying to get out of the place but one rumble and everyone went silent.
"I request, please cooperate or else the process will be painful" Nova sighed at the people full of fear. There were kids, old people and some even disabled.
It broke her heart to see them so terrified but it also made her furious. She wanted to burn Adelard alive so that he can burn in the eternal flames of hell.
"Let's talk, okay? Let's just..... sit and talk" She surprised the avengers.
They knew that she was not the 'make a deal' kind of person. She believed in revenge and karma but here she was ready to talk things down but this only made Adelard chuckle.
"There is no need. Our goal is clear and we are on the right path. We don't need your help anymore Hydrius! I offered you once again out of curtsy but now everything goes down"
"What are you doing Luke" She whispered in her earpiece.
"I am with the scientists moving machines to New York. One machine is left and Edward is managing things from Rome" She hummed lightly as her eyes flicked towards the top of the buildings surrounding the crossroad.
Almost instantly she spotted Luke and two more people setting up the last machine.
"This is stupidity Adelard, try to think. Why would the king of Asuroth listen to you?" She hissed at the sorcerer.
"You naive, little, girl. He would owe me after I give him everything he wants. Blood, power, this dimension and the last elemental"
She would lie if she said that he wasn't acting creepy at all.
The hair on the back of her neck stood up as she heard the same chanting.
Behind Adelard and large number of sorcerers formed a circle and started chanting.
"We got the exact spot, turn the machine!" She heard Luke command.
"Where is Strange?" She asked and he grinned at her.
She knew that she was the one who made sure that he doesn't show up here but she doesn't want anyone to know that it was her and she knew he will not leave any chance to boast about himself.
Luke also stopped and listen carefully for an answer.
"Where do you think?" He answered with a smirk. She let out a deep sigh, her plan is working and she just hopes that no one messes it at the last moment.
"Find him and let Edward control from Rome" Nova whispered and Luke agreed.
Luke, Strange, Wong and Edward are safe. Now I have to take Wanda out of here..... but how?
"You are doing a very big mistake Adelard. Just think! You are a human too!" She stressed but he just shook his head.
"I might be a human but I have the upper hand. I am a human with powers and privileges" She sighed at her last failed attempt to talk and now the only option was fight.
"I can't let you do that" She sighed and he grinned.
"Well then, try and stop us Nova. You are one but we are many. Let's see how long you last infront of us without your powers" He still thinks that Nova doesn't have much power left but on the contrary she had saved a lot of it.
Nova took her stance and the sorcerers started to chant again while she used all her energy to knock off the sorcerers coming towards her with just her physical strength.
"Edward how much more time?" She asked running towards a sorcerer but he opened a portal just below her making her fall through it.
After a second the portal opened again in the sky and she fell hard on the ground making her grunt.
"Fuck!" She hissed as she felt the small scratches on her back.
She stood up wobbly.
"Just 5 more minutes" Nova sighed at Edward's voice and pulled one of her knives out, throwing it towards the sorcerer infront of her, slashing his neck while he fell down and choked on his blood.
The people were continuously gasping or letting out small screams and it was getting tough for Nova to just forget them for a moment.
"Where are you, you sorcerer bastard!?" She exclaimed loudly looking around to see any sign of Adelard.
While she was fighting with the others he just vanished into thin air.
A group of sorcerers surrounded her, looking at her with greed, lust or sheer anger. They knew that killing her would lead them to their ultimate goal and nothing could make them back off.
"Come on guys, you all know how wrong this is, snap out of it!" She exclaimed looking at the sorcerers but then the earth rumbled again with light screeches coming from near them. They all froze as Nova looked towards the sound to see black mist appearing where sorcerer's were chanting.
"Oh fuck" She whispered looking back at the group of sorcerers for her to handle and then looked at the Avengers under 5 sorcerers.
Here's my plan. Erase those 5 sorcerers and let them handle these jerks while I handle those chanting machines. Sounds stupid but cool.
The sorcerers surrounding Nova backed away when her eyes flashed a dangerous orange colour. They knew she was channeling her powers.
She looked towards those five sorcerers and flames engulfed them while the cries of their pain made every man shudder.
The fight was not going to be peaceful and they all knew it so now there was no backing away. Sorcerers started it but Nova will finish it, she has to or else the world would fall into chaos.
The sorcerers surrounding her suddenly snapped out their trance and pulled their hands infront of them ready to hurt Nova from all directions but before they could use their powers half of them were blasted off making everyone jump.
Nova looked at the direction of the blast and smiled widely.
Avengers were in action now.
!Nova's POV!
I know for sure that finding Strange is going to be tough for Luke but not impossible so whatever I have to do will have to be done fast.
First I need to make sure that Wanda is out of here. Should I kidnap her too? But where to keep her? Ask Luke to open a portal? No, he will not let her out of the fight.
A sting made me fall on the ground. My thoughts had consumed my mind and I didn't realised when someone punched me.
I rolled over before he could kick me and stood up quickly. I looked up to see Adelard.
"You know when you said about Strange, I thought one of my men kidnapped him or something. But turns out you were the one" He chuckled finding this situation funny.
"How will the Avengers react when they get to know about your betrayal" my expression hardened at his threat.
How will they react? Will they understand?
"You won't be alive to tell them Adelard" He chuckled loudly.
"You think you can kill me? You kid! Go finish you homework" He laughed and I cracked my neck.
The chanting started again and the sun has not even set yet. It is indeed going to be a very long day.
The chanting increased and with that taking every breath for me got difficult. They were taking my powers again and I had no way to stop it. How foolish of me!
"What? Can't breathe?" My eyes filled with tears but I continued to glare at him. I am getting weak. It's paining. My chest is burning and my sinus is aching.
"Come on Adelard. Fight! You think this Volkav guy will help you achieve greatness?" I let out a laugh before breathing in the little amount of oxygen I could get.
"He is Volrath! You little bitch!" I narrowed my eyes at him.
"Bitch? Not a very nice way to address a girl. Is it?"
"You think I care?" He scoffed.
"Oh, ofcourse not, I don't"
I lunged towards him and he did the same, an inch away from him I skidded behind him and landed a strong low kick making him stagger and fall.
Without wasting a time I again launched towards him and kicked his abdomen with all my might which made him hiss and turn, clutching his abdomen.
"Pathetic" I spat taking out my gun.
I will finish him here itself and then deal with every other chanters. He has done many bad things. Killed so many people and finally I can finish his story.
Looking at his pathetic fallen body, I opened the security of the gun, and was ready to pull the trigger but I felt a great push at the side of my body and felt the gun falling from my hand. Before I could even register the fist impact my right side banged against some concrete.
It felt like every bone in my body has been shattered and my head too felt dizzy from the sudden attack. I don't know what hurts. My whole body is on fire. Falling on the ground I coughed all the dust that entered my lungs but it just made my pain worsen.
The wall had also cracked by the impact. I slowly turned my head towards Adelard and saw a man helping him up.
Groaning, I got up with my wobbly legs and stood in front of them with my hand on my side.
"This is the girl you were talking about" The man said glaring at me with his cold grey eyes.
"Yes son" son?
"He is your son?" I couldn't stop myself from asking.
"Ofcourse he is" My eyebrows raised and I looked at them with my mouth parted. I didn't knew he had a fucking son.
"Ms. Nova, pleasure to meet you. I have heard many things about you" I grimaced at his formal choice of words.
"So you too think that Volrath is going to listen to you?" I asked the question that has been gnawing me since this fight started.
"Ofcourse not but if thats what father wants then I have no problem"
Inshot, this whole family is not blessed in the department of brain. How depressing!
"And you don't care if your father dies?"
"I do care. That's why I will have to kill you, Ms. Nova" I hummed And prepared my body to fight. He is atleast 6 feet and full of muscles but who says I am going to back off? I didn't.
I blinked and he is in front of me and again I was slammed against something hard but that made me wheeze in pain.
My wide eyes met the grey ones.
He is not human or a sorcerer and that's for sure.
"W-wha...." Before I could complete a single word he threw me away and I fell on the road.
My body is full of bruises and each one of them hurts. It feels like I am some kind of a rag doll for him.
"What happened Ms. Nova? Is it too much for you?" An airy, irritated chuckle escaped my lips as I stood up but my legs are weak, they gave out which made me fall on my knees again.
He tutted making me glare at him harshly.
"If I am honest, I am quite disappointed in you, Ms. Nova. I have heard many, many things about you but.... hm... I don't see anything special in you" He chuckled. He is trying to hype my anger and honestly, it's working but no. Rule no. One, never act under emotions. He is obviously not a human.
I smiled at him.
"With that power, you don't look like a sorcerer but then those rings on your fingers tells me a different story-" I tutted and sighed out "-you are not a full human nor a full sorcerer. What are you, you mixed breed"
I know a very low blow but yeah I can go that low. But I successfully riled him up, he growled animalistically at me. Guess I hit a nerve.
"What happened mixed breed? Are you angry?" I mocked him and it looked like blood has filled his eyes. They were so fucking red that it made me scared.
"I was wrong at my judgement. You are afterall a little interesting" I couldn't help but smirk at his comment. His body tensed assuring me that he is going to attack and this time I am fucking ready.
He again disappeared but I felt the shift of air and barely missed his punched. He stopped across me with a smirk.
"Catching up, I see" I continued to glare at the man. Why would he come now? Why not before?
"Let's see if you can beat me, Ms. Nova" He challenged before lunging towards me again.
This time it was fist to fist fight. He ofcourse was more powerful than me and defending myself from each attack made my muscles sore. By his movement and skills I can conclude that he has been practicing since a child. Each blow made an internal swell in my muscles making my muscles of hand hard and uneven.
Even though it hurts to protect myself, it is better than to die. I have yet to stop the chanting. The atmosphere has started to turn dark but not because of the decending sun but the portal which is being opened. People around me are scared but I can't get rid of this bastard.
One of the punch got missed and I felt it break my tooth. I fell back, winced and spat the blood and tooth on the ground, he quickly pulled me up by my collar.
"This is how you all had to die" I frowned before looking around. Even though Avengers tried their hardest to fight everyone of them were again in hold of the sorcerer which made me sigh in disappointment.
Adelard's son on the other hand started to put pressure on my neck. As I felt the pressure and my windpipe close harshly, involuntary coughs started to escape my mouth. I couldn't help but try to escape from his tight hold but it seemed impossible. It felt like all the blood has been trapped in my head. Oxygen started to deplete my lungs while I thrived to suck in the little amount of oxygen but with the constant coughing it made it very difficult for me to even look up at him. Maybe I shouldn't have attacked Strange b-wait, I know what to do.
Through my red, tear filled eyes I looked at this mixed-breed and smirked. He looked shocked to see me smirking because frankly, if he doesn't loosen his grip I will die in the next 30 seconds. Black spots have started to cover ny vision and through my choked throat I somehow muttered those words which will grant me freedom from his grip
"E-edward.... h-he..lp" A moment of silence where I glared at the mixed breed with all the hate my eyes could radiate but after that we all heard a loud sound, like a bang and then something struck his back and he finally left my neck but we both went crashing to two other directions.
I coughed and took deep breaths, trying to catch up on my breaths but my eyes never left the mixed breed.
He apparently has taken a big blow and that blast of my powers made him vulnerable. The scientists really did a great job. I stood up and took my gun out from my jeans pocket. My top's condition is very bad. It is torn from many places because of how they all threw me here and there but now I can finally kill this bastard.
He too finally looked at me and scoffed.
"Calling you boyfriend, I see" I couldn't help but roll my eyes at his attemp to try to make me angry.
"Fuck you mixed breed" I smiled sarcastically at him and pressed the trigger, shooting him on the forehead. He died in a second with his eyes staring at me in a distant manner. Finally! He died.
"NO!!" I head Adelard's scream and saw him running towards his son and keeping his head on his lap.
"No, no, no! Derek! Wake up! Oh god! No please" I cringed at his cries, where is the laughter when he killed all those innocent people? I cannot hear it. Hah! Stupid bitch and his son.
I have a feeling I am going to have a concussion or something. I have hit my head way to hard during the fight and I can feel the blood trickling down my neck. I'm probably covered in blood but this has to end, for once and for all.
I raised my gun at Adelard. I don't have time. The portal will open soon and it will demand blood almost immediately and we can't let that happen. Not at all. No one else will die.
The same sizziling sound of portal made me groan.
"God no!" As soon as I completed my sentence I fell into the portal. Seems like the portal opened just below me and when I felt I was in air, I was falling down from great height.
Without wanting, a scream escaped my throat as my body contracted with the hard road. This blow was the deadliest. I couldn't help but scream when I felt my leg bone crack, the same bone that had suffered when James attacked me. Not only my tibia bone but I felt many crack sounds from my ribs. Everything is burning. My head is paining. I am feeling nauseous and tired. The scratches are burning and the broken bones are paining alot. I can't even stand up now.
"No-va!" Edward's voice rang through the earpiece but it was also breaking.
I looked around and saw that the Avengers are again under the control of sorcerers. Adelard stood up and walked towards me, away from his son's body.
"I will kill you! You murdered my son! YOU WILL DIE!!" He screamed at me at the top of his voice. I can't move, I can't fight, is this going to fail? Every effort, will they go in vain? God no, please. I can't let them all die. The whole world will go in the hands of monsters. It would be the end of humanity. No, no please. There will be some other way! Think! Nova! Fucking think! Using my powers will just decrease my possiblities of surviving till the end. I can't even move. He is infront of me and I can't do anything.
Someone grabbed and made me stand up. My muscles and bones showed their protests. Everything burned and pained, it feels like literal hell.
I looked behing to see two men holding me.
"This will be your end! The world will see you fall and Volrath rise!" Adelard shouted yet again. I felt my blood trickle down my forehead almost entering my eyes but I can't shut them, not even for a second.
His eyes reflected so much hate but his smirk told a different story. He has planned something very gruesome and that makes my guts twist. Can I feel more pain? Can I edure it?
My eyes were connect to his the whole time with Edward's broken monotone voice. No one is with me right now and I have to do something. I can't die! Not after everything everybody is going through just because of me and Strange.
Someone came to him and gave him a sword. Shit! I am going to die!
He laughed like a maniac, swinging the sword like it was some trophy to be cherished, he's looking like a maniac.
"Everyone watch! Watch how this Hydrius dies!!"
I have never felt so afraid. My bones are shivering and I am damn sure that the fear is visible in eyes. Only thinking about the pain of getting stabbed by a sword is enough to make me nervous and panic.
I tried to pull my hands from the steel grip of the sorcerers behind me but nothing, one of them just kicked me making me gasp, this is the end.
!Third person's POV!
Charlie has completed his duty and was sitting in the diner with his food infont of him but he made no attempts to eat it.
Since Nova left he has always been on edge as if he is waiting for some bad news. News related to Nova but nothing, not even a message or phone call. Even though they have not been with each other, they have grown a strong bond in a matter of time.
Not only Charlie but everyone is feeling so helpless. He didn't wanted his daughter to kill people anymore but here he is thinking of her, of how she is surviving.
"Chief! Nova is Hydrius?!" He was shocked to hear this from Cora.
How does she knows about her?!
He turned around to see everyone in the diner had their eyes fix on the tv. He was so deep in his thoughts that no voice registered his ears.
When he fixed his eyes on the tv, he quickly stood up, knocking his chair down in the process making everyone's eyes go to him but his eyes were solely on the TV, watching his daughter get hurt.
"Why didn't you mentioned this to us?" Cory asked but he ignored her afterall what was he suppose to say? He didn't knew? That would be absurd.
"Oh god no" He whispered with a depressing frown on his face, looking at Adelard with the sword.
And in reality Nova's earpiece got broken or something because she couldn't connect with Edward but she knew he could see them as everything or maybe not but that was not her concern. If she didn't think of anything this maniac would kill her.
"Adelard, what you are doing is not going to get you anywhere!" Her desperation dripped from her voice which made him laugh in satisfaction.
She felt blood trickling down from her nose making her frown.
"What the hell" her eyes widened, looking at Adelard.
"We can take the powers from your dead body, you are of no use to us"
His smile was deadly. Scared of her fate she frankly shook her head. Her panic visible in her attempts to somehow hide from the sword but nothing was of use as the sword was directly pointing at her. The taunting tip of the sword made her almost cry.
"Think with a clear head Adelard. Volrath won't listen to you, he will kill you all!"
He was not ready to listen to anyone. Natasha from the other side of the road screamed at the top of her lungs.
"Let her go! She is a kid! Please!" The desperation in her voice was clear but the sorcerer holding her down kicked her face.
"Adelard get that bloody sword away from her!" Steve's scratched voice made Adelard laugh.
"This kid killed my son!" And with the he swinged the sword and stabbed her in the stomach.
Her eyes popped out and a soundless gasp escaped her mouth.
Everyone's gasp and screams sounded deaf to her.
The pain was immediate and sharp.
She tried to inhale but couldn't move her stomach at all, her eyes turned red and irritated from the tears while her shirt started to soak in red.
Adelard on the other hand did something which made her scream with the air left in her lungs.
She felt the sword tearing her inside as she started to vomit blood.
"D-don't ope...n p-portal" These were her last words.
Adelard smiled at her as her eyes started to shut down with the pain and the ringing in her ears, fading.
He extracted the sword out and instantly the two sorcerers left her.
As soon as the Avengers saw the sword they screamed at the top of their lungs. Peter let out ugly sobs accompanied by loud crying of Wanda and Steve. The sword had opened inside her like an umbrella, destroying her inside completely.
She fell on her back and with a couple of more coughs her eyes started to loose its light. The twitching stopped completely and the last thing she saw was the Avengers crying hysterically and heard Luke's voice.
"I found Strange"
With a single tear escaping her eyes,
her heart stopped.
She was no more.
