In the interrogation room, Nancy was informed that she would be detained for 48 hours. She was clearly very furious and she demanded to make a phone call back to the Manoban Family. Her complaints caused a few police officers to ask Huai for help.
This was exactly what Huai was worried about.
He intercepted her from the hospital in hopes of using the opportune moment to do a quick interrogation and avoid the Manoban Family from meddling in.
He was not afraid of the Manoban Family, but without solid evidence, he would have to release her from custody after 48 hours. What more, the aristocratic families liked to involve lawyers at the slightest provocation and it was very annoying!
"Tell her that there's no need for her to contact anyone when she's. being kept under custody!"
Huai thought that he might as well get through it despite the. consequences. He decided to do things with strong measures!
Nancy's request was denied and she surprisingly calmed down. She kept her mouth shut and treated the police officers coldly. Nancy's phone call records arrived soon after and it showed that she had phone calls with several network numbers. The lengths of the phone calls were rather long and very frequent.
It was definite that those were phone calls that hackers made using the Internet. Even the telecommunication company could not provide actual information and locations of the other parties.
Huai felt that this woman was getting even more suspicious, but the investigation got into a dead end once again. After all, they could not prove that this woman was working with hackers based on the few
network phone calls.
There would be no meaning to it even if they were to hold her custody for 48 hours. Lisa might meddle and it would make things even more difficult in the future.
As they were hesitating, Little Dong reported that Kai and the Third Young Master of the Manoban Family had arrived.
News of Lisa rushing to the police station with Kai also
alerted Jennie.
She did not expect Lisa to arrive that quickly. He even brought a lawyer and Tian Qi along...
"Captain Huai, I'm here to pick up my people!"
Lisa wore a black tailored suit and a light color shirt with
refined, diamond cufflinks.
The man was tall and he had an indifferent expression on his face. His tone was so calm that no one could tell if he had any other emotions.
He was not angry nor irritated, but he had a natural arrogant aura. He stood up straight in the office of the third major crimes department under the crowd's gaze.
Jennie could see everything clearly in her office.
This man was here to pick up Nancy! A feeling suddenly rushed into her heart -- During the wedding three years ago, if this man could protect her with half of the aura that he had today, she would not need to struggle to live him for the rest of her life.
Jennie finally realized why she could not remove the thorn in her heart. It was not only because of the things that Hanbin told her, but it was also partly due to her not trusting Lisa.
In Jennie's mind, she could not let go of the fact that he did not protect her three years ago and caused her to be imprisoned for two years!
When she saw him picking up Nancy, a dreary smile curled up at the corners of the woman's lips.
She wanted to forget about it, but it was too difficult!
Most of the people in the police station have seen the successor of the Manoban Family. The oppressing aura radiating from Lisa's body caused them to look towards their captain at the same time.
Huai was an old fox and he was very familiar with the ways of the world. He had suffered many hardships in this position and came into contact with many influential officials. With Lisa now rushing over, Huai, who was also an outstanding member of an aristocratic family in Luo Hai, behaved modestly despite being a senior.
"Third Young Master Manoban, why make such a big fuss?" Huai changed the way he acted usually and put on a big smile on his face.
He was friendly and his usual crude bandit-like behavior was gone. He then continued, "We looked for Miss Mcdonie to understand some circumstances."
"Is Captain Huai done? If you're done, I'll take her away. My grandmother is very worried as she can't see Nancy at home!"
Lisa replied calmly. Despite his voice being cold with a stern tone, his piercing cold eyes contradict with warmth and modest.
People were confused looking at him!
Huai was not a fool. It was impossible that he could not see through this man's temper behind his docile facade. The Manoban Family's Third Young Master's noble status came with an extremely huge ego.
He never needed to negotiate with anyone within the boundaries of Luo Hai!
"Haha, wait for a moment, Third Young Master. We still need Miss Mcdonie's cooperation in a small matter..."
"We've brought our lawyer here. If Captain Huai would like to negotiate, Attorney Kai will help us settle it!"
Right after Lisa was done talking, Huai made a soft grunt
with his nose and gave Kai an 'I knew that you were a henchman' look...
Kai shrugged and shook his head helplessly.
...
Half an hour later, Nancy followed behind Kai with an
extremely aggrieved look on her face and walked out of the interrogation room.
An elegant man was sitting with his legs crossed inside Captain Huai's office, sipping the tea that Huai made personally. The immeasurable force field generated by the two men staring at each other illuminated the dim office.
Huai reacted very calmly as he watched his greatest suspect being taken away as if nothing had happened.
"Third Young Master, I'll be frank with you today. If we find any more evidence to prove that this case is related to Miss Mcdonie, we might need to trouble her to come over to assist the investigation!"
Lisa's dark pupils contracted slightly and he had a smile on his face as usual. It was indeed a smile that allowed no toleration.
"I will support Captain Huai! I'll send you a huge gift tomorrow!"
As Lisa spoke, he nodded towards Nancy's direction and gave her a signal to leave with Tian Qi first. Nancy was not willing to as she wanted to leave with Lisa. Nonetheless, she saw a cold rejection look on the man's face.
After Nancy left, Huai's gaze suddenly turned sly and he said in an excited tone, "Third Young Master has some important clues about this case?"
"Oh? Captain Huai, when did I say that?" Lisa suddenly put on an arrogant look on his face, but he still acted rather modestly.
"Third Young Master, stop pretending. Just know you said that you have a huge gift for me!" Huai smiled even more slyly and Lisa was getting a headache from watching him.
The man paused for a moment and said calmly, "The few hackers that you are tracing, they once hacked the system of Zhong Heng International and tried to retrieve classified information about the company. Therefore, they were marked by my subordinates and they found out their identities! I didn't think that they were the same batch of hackers behind this poisoning case!"
Huai was extremely excited after hearing that, so he stood up and walked around. He rubbed his palms together and asked eagerly with bloodshot eyes, "Third Young Master, do you have their address?"
Lisa nodded without any doubts, "I wanted to catch them
personally and bring them to you tomorrow. If Captain Huai can do it, then I'll just relax in joy!"
"Okay, there's no need to trouble Third Young Master! I'll send my people there!"
Huai immediately gave an order to his subordinates as this matter should not be delayed any further. Nancy had been interrogated for two hours already, so they might have escaped.
"Rest assured, Captain Huai. I have people watching them, so they won't be able to escape! But..."
Lisa paused and his gaze suddenly turned piercingly vicious. He then said in a ferocious and cold tone, "These people might be involved with the Kim Family. Captain Huai, do you understand what I mean?"
Huai was stunned for a brief moment before understanding what he meant. Then, he said with a suppressed voice, "Don't worry, I'll explain to Mrs. Manoban.."
