Mena's POV

Shutting off my cellphone I got out of the car went to ring in the door bell. After a couple seconds I heard it unlock. "Mena? What's up, is everything okay?" Margo said.

"Yeah no, I just... can we talk for a second?"

"Sure, come on in," I hadn't set foot in her apartment in ages.

"You changed the place up a lot,"

"Yeah, well dad said if I redid it I could keep it so I did and now it's home," she made her way to the kitchen. "Do you want anything?"

"Just a water is good."

"So how was the trip? Did you see the girls?"

"What?"

"I mean I'm assuming thats what you're here to talk about no?"

"Uhh yeah, the girls. They're huge and beautiful. I don't know where time went honestly."

"That's awesome, I can't wait to see them."

"Yeah," I sighed.

"So what's on your mind? Did anything happen with Nay?"

"Why did she call?"

"I mean I talk to her every couple of weeks but I haven't in a bit."

"Oh...she just," I brushes my hair back, "I think she moved on Margo,"

"What do you mean?"

"She slept with Jordan,"

"What?" She almost spit her coffee. "How do you know?"

"I just do okay, and anyway I tried getting through to her, I bought presents for the girls but still..."

"Didn't the start school yesterday?"

"Yeah,"

"Did you go with her?"

"No,"

"Mena, you're such an idiot. You were supposed to be there,"

"How was I supposed to know?"

"I don't know, maybe because they're your daughters? Thats what parents do!"

"I bought them presents, which they loved by the way,"

"Presents are fun and all but you can't buy their love Mena. We're talking about little girls who can't properly say their own names yet!"

"I just thought because its what they liked—"

"I get where you're getting at but being a dad is... its so much more than that. It's like, you know when mom and dad missed your karate class that one time because they were stuck in traffic and you wouldn't get out from under the receptionists desk because they weren't there to see you?"

"'Mhm,"

"Well its the same for them, no matter how cool your outfit or your ninja turtles headband was, all you wanted was for mom and dad to be there. So no matter how big their gift was, all they'll remember is you weren't there to play with them they second they opened it."

"Why are you always right?"

"Its what big sisters are for," she shrugged her shoulders.

"I keep messing up Margo, I think I've just ran out of chances."

"Just keep trying okay?"

Suddenly my phone buzzed. Naomi posted a picture with her and Jordan holding playing soccer with the girls at the park. Letting out a breath I turned it off, "I think it's too late for that,"
