Esmée tears up and uses her arms as protection while a quarter of the ceiling collapses onto the ground. "I love you." She pleaded to place her hand on my cheek. I aggressively shove her back and then point the gun at her. "Don't you dare use those words?" I spat bitterly.

"Get out. before I fucking kill you." I say then face my back towards her.

"You can't kick me out. I need you." She softly says. "Get the fuck out Esmée!" I shout.

Without another word, I hear footsteps fading and cries. A huge lump is blocking me from speaking. Right now I can't process what just happened.

She was my light, my sunshine. her beautiful smile was the reason why I woke up every day. Her laugh was the reason why I wanted to start a family with her. Everything about her was like a blessing from heaven. But I was wrong. blinded by her pure beauty. she was just a demon from hell disguised as a beautiful angel to lure you and make you fall head over heels and when I was wrapped around her finger. all she had to do was to drain the happiness out of me and show me her true disgusting form.

Present

"Esmée." My voice comes out soft and weak.

"It's been a while." She states. "Put the gun down," I said,  ignoring her statement from earlier.

"No."

The last time I've seen and heard from Esmée was four years ago when I found out she cheated on me. "Look at me." She demands while my back is facing her.

I don't have the strength to look at her.

Hearing her voice breaks my heart, now imagine me looking at her.

Esmée sighs and I feel her lower her gun on my table. She grabs my arm then slowly spins me around to face her but I just can't.

Why? That day I was upset and heartbroken that I even burned the house down with the man in it. I thought if I just destroyed everything that the pain would go away. Our memories of each other were burned, turned into ash, and blown by the wind. But there was one thing I knew that I will never and still won't have the strength to let go of. The key-neck chain she gave me for my 19th birthday.

"Please." She begs. I slowly lift my head and she still looks beautiful. Her light brown hair is now short from last time I saw her.  It's shoulder length. She still has her soft round face features and her dark freckle on top of her right plump soft lips with her cute button nose. Her hazel eyes are still pure but this time, I feel disgusted when I look into them.

The moonlight hits her face which makes her skin flawless. She's wearing a nude colored jumpsuit that hugs her small body.

She is still beautiful.

"Gabriella." Her voice brings me out of my thoughts.

What about Gabriella?

"What about her?" I questioned. She sighed. "I'm here to warn you."

I cocked a brow. "Now why would you warn me?"

"Giovanni, I still care and will always love you." She whispered. I chuckled darkly. "You still love me yet you fucking cheated on me, some way to show your love for me." I said, grabbing another glass of whiskey.

"I know what I did was wrong, The pain I put you through, you didn't deserve me. I'll always carry this guilt till my grave. I'm sorry. What I did to you was so unfair, standing in front of you makes me wish I was dead." she rumbles and places her hand over her chest.

I roll my eyes.

Same old pathetic excuse.

"But I didn't come here for that."

"Giovanni, I need your help."

She hurt me, put me through misery then after four years she suddenly shows up and asks for my help.

"No, I can't trust you," I say. She stays silent for a while then speaks up when she notices something. "You still have my necklace." She says with a soft smile then places her hand over my chest. "You-you still care."

"Why?" Esmée sadly questions me.

"I don't know myself." I spoke truthfully, I might hate her but yet I still kept the necklace.

Do I care? Maybe.

Esmée plays with the chain and I notice tears start pouring out of her eyes.

The room was dead silent as Esmée and I stared at each other. Placing the pad of my thumb on her cheeks as I brush her tears away.

All my emotions start to cloud up.

I watched her, studied her...

Esmée slowly leans in then presses her soft lips against mine.

Instead of pushing her away, I kissed her back.
