I SAT ON the couch with my legs crisscrossed as I forced myself to read a book.

It's been cold for the past two days and due to the cold weather I haven't had anything interesting to do besides, sleep, read or watch tv.

Nothing was interesting to do in Giovanni's house. He had quite interesting stuff but they weren't for me.

Like a room where he practices his knife throwing, a study full of books (I don't like to read) and an indoor pool, a room full of weapons, etc.

I lifted my gaze when I heard heavy footsteps.

Enzo walked into the room. He paused when he noticed me and then searched the room.

"Oh, you're here." He said dryly.

I ignored him and continued to read.

I've realized that Enzo doesn't like me. It doesn't bother me at all because the feeling was mutual.

"Where is Giovanni?" Enzo asked. "You just missed him."

Enzo sighed, his expression tightening with frustration.

"Why are you looking for him?" I asked.

He leaned against the wall with arms crossed. "I need to talk to him." He said.

I pursed my lips and then proceeded to read.

An awkward silence unfolded between us. Five minutes had passed and Enzo was standing there as he watched me read.

I groaned. "Are you just going to stand there and watch me read till he gets back?" I snapped.

"No." He argued.

"Then stop the starring it's fucking annoying." I declared as I shifted on the couch to get more comfortable. He rolled his eyes and pushed himself off the wall, mumbling something under his breath.

I groaned in frustration. "Why do you have a problem with me?" I asked.

He paused and turned to face me. "I don't have a problem with you." Enzo declared. I rolled my eyes. "You do," I told him. His expression hardened as his jaw clenched, "You are the enemy."

"So that's why you hate me." He nodded. "And other reasons."

I studied Enzo for a while. It was hard to read him. I've realized that's very good at hiding his emotions.

He must be an expert at manipulating people.

"You can't hate me forever," I told him. "Yes, I can." Enzo protested.

"Your boss is the father of my unborn child and one day you will be given orders to keep the baby safe, so..." I explained.

He laughed. "Just because I'll have to protect your child one day doesn't mean I have to like the mother." He stated.

"But at some point, you'll have to get used to seeing this face every day and taking orders from me." I declared.

Enzo glared at me, his eyes shooting bullets toward me. He opened his mouth but closed it again. I closed the book and set it beside me. As soon as I stood up I felt lightheaded and weak, having the sensation of spinning. My arms got weak and my abdomen started twitching uncontrollably. I lost balance and almost collapsed but Enzo caught me.

"I got you." He whispered as he picked me up and carried me upstairs bridal-style

I smiled weakly. "Told you you won't hate me forever."

Enzo gently placed me on the bed and covered my body with a blanket.

"If you vomit, you'll clean it yourself." He said.

I chuckled lightly. "Yeah."

"Get some rest, I'll call Giovanni and inform him that you aren't feeling well."

Without saying another word he left.

I tried to keep myself awake but my vision was dissolving into darkness and sleep took over.
