"So did you talk?" Ski asked me

I nodded my head.

"Vro How do you do that, I asked and she just brushed me off."

"Cause nigga you annoying."

I slightly laughed and and just sat there.

"Man this teacher is bullshittin me." The guy with curly hair said

"What'd you do now Isaiah?" Jahseh asked annoyed

"This bitch gon give me 4/5 cause I took my paper out of the journal."

Everyone bursted out in laughter including me.

"What teacher was it?" I asked

"Umm Ms.Heart."

"Ohh that makes sense."

"Aye what's your name?" He asked

"Scarlet."

"I'm Isaiah." He said

"Cool."

"Y'all tryin to to mine after school?" Jahseh asked

"Bet!" A bunch other people said

"Scarlet?" He asked specifically

"I don't know I have homework?"

"Boo!" Isaiah said throwing a fry at me

"It's the first day of school there's no way you got that much homework." Ski said

I sighed knowing he knew that he was right.

We all exchanged numbers and headed to our classes. Jah and I ended up in same 6th period and seventh with Isaiah and Lucas.

I got my backpack out of my locker and started to head home through an exit that was close to where my locker was.

*At Home*

"Dad!" I yelled closing

"What's up?" He said walking with a girl

Probably another girlfriend.

"Woah who's this?" I asked

"My girlfriend Emily."

I looked at him and then her. She looks like a gold digger. Anyway NEXT!

"Can I go to a friends house?"

"Who's?"

"My new friend's"

"Hmm." He hummed eyeing me down

"Sure."

"Thanks."

"Wait baby. Shouldn't we meet this friend of hers?" She asked putting a hand on his chest

"I don't think it's n-"

"Let's face it she's a teenager we don't want her doing bad things cause we didn't protect her."

I rolled my eyes. This is like the 80th girlfriend he's had. It's really starting to get tiring. I was so mad cause none of his relationships worked except for the one with my mom. But she decided to cheat so I guess it doesn't matter but still. Why can't he just deal with the fact that he won't meet anyone as close as mom. I shook the anger off and tuned back into their conversation.

"I don't think all of that is necessary." Dad said

"Thank you."

She side eyed me.

"No problem." He said walking away with her

I went upstairs to start on my homework.

*A few hours later*

I was watching TV until I heard my phone notify me indicating that I had gotten a text. I looked at it and it was Jahseh. He had asked me if I was coming over. And I replied with On my way. He sent me the address and I found out he didn't live that far.

"I'm going now." I yelled

"Alright be back soon."

"Kay." I said walking out

"I can't believe you're-" Emily started but I closed the door

I started the route to his house and put in some headphones to kill the time. On my way there I just thought about Emily and Dad I just wanna move out. I tried to help him deal with the fact mom wasn't there but he didn't wanna take my advice. I arrived at his house. I knocked on his door waiting for him to answer. Finally he came back and the house smelled like weed.

"Yo. I can't stay here. The smells gonna get in my clothes and my Dad and his girl are gonna bug." I said turning around

I felt my body being jerked to face him.

"Come on."

I pulled into the house and I walked around examining the house.

"Do you live here by yourself."

"No my ma gone on a business trip."

"Oh."

"What's up Scarlet!" Lucas said taking a hit

"Hey."

"What's wrong?" Ski asked

"Nothing." I said trying to brush the whole Emily situation away

"Nah something's wrong Jah just had you smilin and shit. What's wrong now" He said

"Nah. I'm straight."

"Nigga you just about straight as I am gay."

That made everyone look at him weird.

"Nah I meant that she's not strai-" Then he stopped

"Come on Scarlet." Jah said

I knew it was going to be exactly like at school so I followed him to what probably was his room.

"What happened?" He asked closing the door

"It's dad and his 800th girlfriend."

"What about them?"

"Everything I don't want my dad with no one else. It's so frustrating and the thing he's always getting hurt cause of it. Weather it's because they took his money only used him for sex cheated or whatever the reason is. I'm just tired of it I wanna get out of here."

"I feel you. It's hard when people keep doing things over and over again after you try to save them. The way I look at it; save you once shame on you, save you twice shame on me."

I chuckled at his made up motto.

"I also get you when you say you wanna get outta here. I just wanna leave Florida for a hot minute and then come back." He said

"Right! I too pussy." I said

"With me you can do anything. Or I'll make you do anything." He smirked

"You ever smoke before?" He asked

"No and don't plan on it."

"Here. Just once." He said passing me the blunt

"Nope." I pushed it away

"It'll help a lot."

I looked at him and he looked at me. The same face that made me do what he wanted me to. So I took the blunt and didn't cough.

"I thought this was your first time?" He asked suspiciously

"It is." I said

"Sure."
