ALRIGHT HERES YOUR ANGST(?)
HERE WE GO

Third Person POV
There was a thunderstorm coming near Detroit. A big one.
That's basically what the woman on the TV said as Y/N and her boyfriend Connor watched the news together on their couch.

Y/N was afraid of thunderstorms since she was a little girl. But she never told anyone since she thinks to be 28 years old and having this fear is 'childish.'

Now, when I say "afraid", I mean terrified. Thinking of thunderstorms made her anxious and she's even had panic(!) attacks a few times because of them before. Normally, for a small storm, she would just take a nap until the loud sounds outside stopped or she would just try to distract herself.

But this wasn't a small storm. It was going to be a very very long one. It was going to be loud, ferocious, dangerous.
Y/N thinks it's going to be one of the worst storms she's ever experienced.

Even though she's had this fear for basically all her life, she didn't tell anyone, even her boyfriend, Connor. She didn't want him to ridicule her for "being a child," or even leave her because she "can't handle a little rain."

Now, I know what you're thinking, 'why would you leave someone over a thunderstorm?'
Y/N has asked herself that same question three times as all three of her ex-boyfriends (the only people she's ever told her "secret" to) left for that reason exactly.

She was not only scared of the storm itself, but she was scared it would be the very reason she lost someone she loves.
Y/N's attraction to Connor is different than anything else she's ever felt before, so him leaving her would feel even worse than if lightning were to strike down on her. It would ruin her, for a long time.

So, while the two sat on their couch together, Y/N tried not to panic(!) and 'just breathe.' But breathing wasn't really working since she started to tremble as the woman on the television continued to talk about the severity of the rain that was coming.

"Y/N? Y-Y/N, Sweetheart, you're shaking. Are you alright?" Connor's voice was laced with concern.

She blinked a couple of times before answering him, still not wanting to tell him about her life long phobia.

"I'm f-fine. It's just a little- um... cold in here," she lied.
The temperature was fine.

Connor pulled her closer to him and loosely wrapped his arms around his lover.

His embrace was comforting and calmed her down a lot.
She was so calm that she felt her eyes start to get heavy and she drifted off to sleep with a smile in his arms.

——

BOOM!

Y/N violently sat up and almost screamed.

The storm started, and the very first crack of thunder jolted her awake.

She then realized she woke up in her bedroom (Connor carried her in there after she fell asleep) with her boyfriend lying next to her, in rest mode.

'Thank God he isn't awake,' she thought.

She tried to fall asleep again but it was just too loud. Everything was too loud. The rain, the thunder, the lightning, it was too... loud.
