STAR'S POV
I sigh as my phone starts ringing and without bothering to look away from the file on my table, I pick up the phone and answer it, placing it against my ear
"Hello?"
"I'm hungry" I hear almost immediately and I can't help the smile on my face as I recognize the voice
"Eat something then" I say, leaning against my chair
"Let's eat together, it's almost lunch time for you yeah?" She asks and I have to pause a bit to keep from aggressively showing my excitement and eagerness at her offer
"Well yes. Where do..." I trail off with a realization "Actually I can't have lunch with you today" I say
"Why not?"
Cause unfortunately I have plans.
I can't just be happy, can I?
"I already made lunch plans with Kira and..." I start and don't finish as she speaks
"Who is Kira?" She asks and from her tone, I can envision that frown of hers
"Um...you remember the woman I met...well that you helped me meet at the bar? That's her" I say
"I didn't realize you guys were still... talking" she says
"Well, we are"
"Why?"
"Huh?" I ask, not sure I understood the question
"Wrong question. Why are you still talking?" She asks and I'm unsure if I should laugh or not
"That's the same question, but longer" I point out
"Yeah I know, so why?" She asks
"Um...I don't know, we just get along well I guess" I say "We've been meeting up a lot these days and she's..."
"She's the one you've been meeting?" She asks
"Yeah. I'm pretty sure I've mentioned that a few times before" I say
"Okay and was I interested?" She asks
"Not any more than you usually are but I assumed you were listening" I say
"I wasn't"
"Alright then"
"So you like this Kayla woman?" She asks
"Kira and yes, I mean she's really cool and she actually helped me get this job which is why I'm..."
Good for you" she says dryly before she hangs up and I can't help the frown on my face as I drop the phone to the table
Okay, what was that all about?
She's literally the one who encouraged me to give Kira a chance and now she's upset about it?
Can this woman not leave me confused every two seconds?
