STAR'S POV

"Tomorrow by 12? Of course, thank you very much" I say, all smiles before hanging up.

"God please let this be the one" I pray quietly. It was the final round of the interview and if I could just nail this one then the job was mine.

I just can't wait to be working again and earning money.

Broke is a color not fit for anyone to be honest.

Stretching, I get off the bed and head downstairs and as usual make my way to the kitchen where Logan is sat, drinking what I know is alcoholic from a glass.

Drinking so early in the morning then?

"Morning" I say like I do every morning

"Morning" she says, her eyes unmoving from her phone and I raise a brow

Did she just reply to my greeting?

Should I start freaking out now?

"Did you sleep well?" I ask, testing the waters and she looks up from her phone and at me, wordlessly telling me to shut up

"Right" I murmur and grab an apple before heading for the fridge and grabbing some water. "I'll be in the living room" I say even though I know she doesn't care before walking out of the kitchen.

"Yeah I'm fine. I found somewhere to stay too so don't worry okay?" I say, assuring my obviously worried grandmother

With my dad's death, she's the only other family I have and I don't want her to be over her head with worry cause of her health.

"Are you sure dear? You know you can always come down here and stay with me right? We can manage together" she says

"I really am fine, promise. I'll send you some money next week okay? Take care of your health for me, please" I say

"Alright my darling. Make sure to call regularly okay? So I know you're fine"

"I will, promise" I say, a smile on my lips

"Bye love"

"Bye" I say before hanging up, a sigh leaving my lips almost immediately

I really, really need a job. Even if not for me, at least to help support her.

She's been so supportive but at her age now and with her health, there's so little she can do. I'd love to go down there and stay with her, take care of her but am I going to go down there with no job and no money?

I don't want to be an additional burden.

I don't have time to think longer before I hear the door open and I turn on the chair to see Logan stumble in, only managing to catch herself last minute.

"Are you okay?" I ask as she shuts the door after her and she waves me off dismissively before attempting to make her way up the stairs but not being very successful as she keeps losing her balance and tripping over the air

Is she drunk?

I see someone's been out drinking. She's been drinking right from this morning so I can't say I'm surprised she's drunk out of her mind right now.

I'm surprised she made it home successfully.

I get up from the couch and walk over to her, deciding I'd had enough of watching her pathetically attempt to make her way upstairs.

"You really drove in this condition?" I ask as I reach her, watching her try to find the railing of the stairs without success.

She must be seeing things in six.

"Go away" she says in response

"I think it's in your best interest that I don't do that" I say taking her hand but she pushes it away

"I'm fine... I don't need your help" she says finally getting a hold of the stair rail and slowly making her way upstairs

"Seriously let me help you, you'll hurt yourself" I say, following after her

"Will you just fuck off? I don't need your help" she slurs, her eyes squinted as she glared at me and I sigh, stepping back a little and nodding

"Fine, take care of yourself" I say and she doesn't say anything and instead rolls her eyes before making her way upstairs in wavering steps and finally disappearing down the corridor just before I hear her door shut close.

"She's even more difficult when drunk" I sigh before making my way upstairs, knowing I'll be restless if I don't make sure she's okay.

Its barely a second that I walk towards her room and stand in front of her door that I hear glass shattering inside and instinctively, I open the door quickly and enter the room, frowning at the drops of blood that made a trail leading to the bathroom

I rush there and see her knelt on the floor with her face in the toilet as she threw up everything in her.

"You must have drank a lot" I say, kneeling by her and rubbing her back gently as she emptied her guts.

She finally finishes and I flush the toilet before helping her to her feet and towards the sink to rinse out her face and mouth.

I make her sit on the stool in the bathroom and I'm glad she does not argue with me and just lets me help her.

I quickly go to get the first aid kit, some warm water, soap and a towel before returning to her and kneeling in front of her.

"You look exhausted" I say, taking her hand in mine and cleaning it with the towel that I had soaked in the warm water. "Did you have a difficult day today?" I ask, looking up to meet her eyes and see that she's already staring at me

"A bit" she says only and it takes me a second to process the fact that she just answered my question

I honestly just try and never actually expect anything but she's been a surprise from the morning.

"I'm sorry" I say, gently wiping clean her cut

"It's okay" she says and I nod, dropping the towel and opening the first aid kit.

"I probably haven't shown it but I hope you know I'm really grateful to you. For letting me stay here with you" I say as I take out the antibiotic ointment from the kit

"I know, you don't have to say thank you every time" she says quietly as I apply the ointment on the cut.

"Okay" I say with a small smile, putting back the cap on the ointment and returning it to the kit.

"Hmm" she hums only as I wrap a sterile bandage around the cut on her palm

"You should come get some rest, you must be so tired" I say getting up and helping her up. She doesn't resist and just lets me lead her into the bedroom and help her lay on the bed

I take off her shoes and pull the duvet over her legs.

"Thanks" she says quietly as she shuts her eyes and I smile

Turns out the one time I get a good treatment is when she's drunk.

"It's fine. Get some sleep" I say, going back into the bathroom to put the kit back in the drawer and throw away the water I had used, then washing and drying the small towel.

I return to the room and clean up the pieces of glass on the floor as well as the drops of blood from her cut.

Satisfied that everything was done, I turn off the light and make my way out the room. "Goodnight Logan" I say quietly before shutting the door behind me and making my way to my room, tired and ready to let sleep take me away.
