ACT ONE
INT. NORTHPOINTE HIGH/HALLWAY – DAY
We're looking at a crowded locker calender. Color-coded, jam-packed, and grueling. We're at Torie's locker. She looks exhausted.
TORIE
Looks like I won't be getting any sleep until June.
She closes her locker revealing Tristen. They head down the hall.
TRISTEN
I don't know why you're already pulling all nighters. Finals aren't until another few weeks.
TORIE
I'm being thorough. I want to make sure I know the material.
TRISTEN
You should be able to recite an entire lesson by now.
TORIE
Not word for word, but I'm getting close. What about you? How are you doing in your classes?
TRISTEN
I'm passing.
TORIE
If you need more help, just tell me. You got accepted into you dream school, which is amazing, but it's not a guarantee. Your grades are more important than ever now, Tris. You have to show them that you're taking it seriously.
TRISTEN
My study partner is valedictorian. I'm not worried. You shouldn't be either.
Torie takes out her phone.
TORIE
Speaking of, I forgot to schedule our study group for tonight. You should invite the guys. Minus Vance, obviously. Have you talked to Savannah?
TRISTEN
She keeps dodging my calls. Say it. You know you want to.
TORIE
What? That I tried to warn you about him, but you wouldn't listen?
TRISTEN
Unlike you, it's not easy for me to turn my back on people I care about.
TORIE
Vance crossed the line, and you got caught in the crossfire. How many times are you going to let him drag you into his mess?
TRISTEN
It won't happen again.
TORIE
Whatever you say. (re: phone) Of course.
TRISTEN
What is it?
TORIE
JT's doing a signing at the mall, and I can't go because I'm going to be stuck here. School is literally ruining my life.
