ACT TWO
EXT. SAVANNAH'S CAR/ LOGAN ESTATE DRIVEWAY – NIGHT
Savannah cruises down the driveway looking up at the stunning mansion. Lost for words.
EXT. LOGAN ESTATE – NIGHT
Savannah rings the doorbell. Waits. Tristen answers it. Blocks the doorway.
TRISTEN
I can't let you in unless you sing something.
Savannah doesn't know how to respond. Torie appears in her pajamas.
TORIE
Leave her alone. Come on. The girls are upstairs.
INT. TORIE'S BEDROOM – DAY
The girls are sitting around in their pajamas with music playing from Torie's phone. Torie's painting her nails and Savannah's looking at the display of lights and photos on the wall while Shae braids Mo's hair.
TORIE
Savannah, which one of our songs is your favorite?
SAVANNAH
I haven't actually listened to any of your songs.
SHAE
Why would you want to join our group if you don't even know our music?
MO
(under her breath) I told you she was sketchy.
SHANNON
Every day I come to school, I feel like an outsider looking through a window. Everyone inside has people they connect with through whatever brings them together, and I didn't have that. Not until now. I just wanted a place to fit in.
TORIE
And now we're new and improved.
Savannah Smiles.
SHAE
This is my song.
She gets up and turns up the music.
TORIE
Remember the choreography we made to this?
She demonstrates. Mo and Shae join in. Savannah hangs back.
TORIE (CONT'D)
It's really easy. Just follow along.
Mo goes over to Savannah and takes her hand.
MO
Don't be shy.
Savannah attempts the moves. Very awkwardly. Tristen enters the hallway on the way to his bedroom. He leans on the doorpost, amused. Savannah turns around and notices him. She bumps into the speakers and knocks them on the floor, cutting off the music.
SAVANNAH
Sorry.
She dives onto the floor and sets it back up.
TRISTEN
Is it too late to sign up for Zumba classes? Or was that line dancing?
TORIE
No boys allowed.
She pushes him out and closes the door.
SHAE
We have a lot of work today.
MO
There is no way we can let you perform at halftime looking like that.
SAVANNAH
Wait. We're doing the halftime show?
TORIE
We perform at every home game.
SAVANNAH
But the game is this Friday.
SHAE
Maybe she should sit this one out.
MO
I concur.
SAVANNAH
There's no way I'll be ready in time.
TORIE
You need the experience performing in front of an audience. It'll be fine. But first. We need to work on your look.
SAVANNAH
What's wrong with my clothes?
SHAE
They're fine if you're a solo act. We coordinate.
TORIE
We embrace our individuality but in more subtle ways. It keeps us in harmony.
MO
And right now, it looks like you photobombed our photoshoot.
Savannah knows where this is going.
SAVANNAH
You want to give me a makeover.
Torie grabs her tablet and holds it up.
TORIE
Hold still.
Takes her picture. She opens an app that allows her to try clothes on Savannah's photo. Shae and Mo look over her shoulder, giving their opinions.
TORIE
I think we found the one.
Torie enters her giant color coordinated walk-in closet and presses a button on the wall. The shelves revolve to reveal even more clothes, shoes, and accessories. Savannah is speechless.
TORIE (CONT'D)
Are you ready to level up?
