EXT. ART TENT – DAY
The auction is all set up to go, Abram and Torie stand at the entrance of the tent waiting. Torie stares at her phone, picking at the anchor bracelet around her wrist. It snaps.
TORIE
Shoot.
Abram picks it up.
ABRAM
I'm sure handyman Flynn's around here somewhere.
TORIE
It's okay. I'll just order another one.
ABRAM
Perks of being a trust fund baby?
TORIE
Why don't you keep it? You could sell it to buy better jokes. I'll be right back.
She walks away.
ABRAM
The auction's about to start.
INT. SENIOR FESTIVAL/FOOD TRUCK – DAY
The server gives Vance two funnel cakes.
VANCE
Thank you, kind sir.
He hands one to Savannah.
VANCE (CONT'D)
Happy Senior Festival Day.
They walk and eat.
VANCE (CONT'D)
I didn't think you'd actually come with me. I'm shocked.
SAVANNAH
Why? Because I thought you were an antisocial bully?
VANCE
What changed your mind? It was the frog, wasn't it? Is this a pity date?
SAVANNAH
You're not what I expected.
VANCE
You're exactly what I expected.
Savannah tries to call his bluff. Is he being sincere? She looks away and finds Tristen at the hoop game.
SAVANNAH
Hey, Tristen.
TRISTEN
Hey. (to Vance) You up for one-on-one?
VANCE
Only if you're up for losing.
They begin the game. Tristen makes shot after shot while Vance trails behind.
VOLUNTEER
Tristen's the winner!
He hands Tristen a teddy bear. Tristen hands it to Savannah.
TRISTEN
This is for you.
Savannah takes it to Vance's irritation.
SAVANNAH
Thanks. I'm guessing you have enough trophies at home.
TRISTEN
The next time you come over, I'll have to show you.
VANCE
Okay. We should get going to the auction.
TRISTEN
You donated art to the auction.
SAVANNAH
Yeah. You should come. I might need the emotional support when I find myself taking it home with me.
VANCE
He's not really into that kind of stuff, are you Tristen?
TRISTEN
My friend needs me, I'm going to be there. Let's go.
EXT. ART TENT – DAY
Abram checks his watch. He looks up and sees a crowd of people gathering for the auction. This gives him an idea. He exits the tent as Shae, Mo, and Brandy walk over.
ABRAM
Ladies. Aren't you missing a Destiny's Child?
MO
Watch it Nickleback. We're here for Torie.
ABRAM
She's not here.
BRANDY
Did she tell you where she was going?
ABRAM
We're not exactly best friends, so we're not obligated to keep tabs on each other.
He walks off.
SHAE
I think I have an idea.
