INT. NORTHPOINTE HIGH/HALLWAY – DAY
Torie, Shae, Mo, and now Savannah walk down the hall in perfect synch. Savannah doesn't look as confident in her new getup, but she's managing
TORIE
We're rehearsing in the music room during lunch.
SAVANNAH
I told Mrs. Bashier I'd help clean out her supply closet lunch period.
TORIE
Can it wait? We have a lot to go over, especially since Brandy stole our original routine. Success is sacrifice.
She walks away followed by Mo and Shae. Flynn heads to his locker. Sees Savannah and stops.
FLYNN
Savannah?
SAVANNAH
I was worried no one would recognize me.
FLYNN
You look nice.
SAVANNAH
Thanks...
Walks away.
INT. CIVICS CLASS – DAY
Abram and Jeff are sitting next to each other.
JEFF
Hey. I'm sorry we ambushed you. We won't make a decision unless we're all in, but can you at least think about it?
The bell rings. Mrs. Ross addresses the class.
MRS. ROSS
Today we will begin our final debates of the year. Abram and Jeff, you're up first.
Abram and Jeff move to the front of the class and each stand behind a podium.
JEFF
I affirm that the voting age should be lowered to 16. As we can see, grownups clearly don't know what's best for our country. I believe that kids are more understanding than ever when it comes to politics, and if anyone can change the world for the better, they can.
ABRAM
Is your idea of a better world run by social media sheep who only follow what's popular? Most sixteen years are swayed by the loudest voice on their timeline instead of forming their own opinion by actually doing the research themselves.
JEFF
You can't make a general statement about a generation based on a few individuals. Some kids are more informed than adults.
ABRAM
And what about the ones who aren't? Are we just going to let everyone in because it's the trendy thing to do?
Mrs. Ross has a snack, enjoying this.
JEFF
Who cares about what's trending? Sometimes people just like what they like.
ABRAM
What happens when those people make the wrong choice and we lose everything we've fought so hard for? The only mistakes you can fix are the ones you never make.
JEFF
But what if it's not a mistake? Change doesn't have to be scary. Sometimes change can take a good thing and make it great.
There's a pause as Jeff silently pleads for Abram to hear him out. Mrs. Ross looks between them both, confused.
MRS. ROSS
Uh...Abram? Your negative constructive?
