INT. MUSIC ROOM – DAY

Torie, Mo, Shae, and Savannah practice their routine. Torie sees Savannah still struggling. Stops the music.

TORIE

Take five?

She walks over to Savannah.

TOIRE (CONT'D)

I'm not meaning to come down hard on you, but I need you to give a little more effort.

SAVANNAH

I'm doing the best I can.

TORIE

I think you can do better. You're not a great dancer and that's fine. I just seems like your head's someplace else, and I need you to be all in. Okay?

SAVANNAH

Yeah.

Torie walks away. Savannah shakes her head and takes it from the top--

INT. GYM – DAY

--Continuing practicing into P.E. Tristen is shooting hoops on the other side of the court. He stops and watches her. Walks over.

TRISTEN

Don't hurt yourself.

Startled, Savannah turns around.

SAVANNAH

I feel like a hunchback monster. I never should have joined the group. I will never be as good as them.

TRISTEN

Who says? All it takes is a little practice. You're too much in your head. Think less, move more.

He dribbles in front of her, showing off his own moves.

TRISTEN (CONT'D)

Think you can keep up?

Savannah guards him as they have a playful one-on-one. Across the gym, Shae watches them, suspicious.

INT. LOCKER ROOM – DAY

Savannah is gathering her clothes from her locker when Shae confronts her.

SHAE

I need you to be straight up with me.

SAVANNAH

About what?

SHAE

Did you join the group just so you could get close to Tristen?

SAVANNAH

What? No. Of course not.

SHAE

But you like him, right?

SAVANNAH

I don't know. Maybe?

Shae scoffs.

SHAE

Look. The only way this is going to work is if you stay focused. We're not doing this just for fun. This is our dream. If you're not in it for the right reasons, you shouldn't be in it at all.

SAVANNAH

I get it.

SHAE

Good. And a little advice, keep your distance from Tristen. The boy's definitely got game, and I don't just mean on the court.

She walks off.
