INT. HALLWAY – DAY
Torie is at her locker when Savannah comes over.
SAVANNAH
So I have this idea. Maybe we could incorporate basketballs into the routine.
TORIE
You barely have the regular routine. Now you want to add props?
SAVANNAH
We don't have to be the Harlem Globetrotters. I just thought it would be cool.
TORIE
I appreciate your input, but we don't have the time.
She closes her locker.
TORIE (CONT'D)
Oh, and we're wearing gold for the show, so send me some shots of your options so I can sign off.
SAVANNAH
What if I don't have anything gold.
TORIE
Buy something.
SAVANNAH
So you expect me to go spend money on an outfit I'll most likely never wear again?
TORIE
Then borrow one of mine. It's not a big deal.
SAVANNAH
It is to me. I joined this group because I thought I'd get to do something I love and make new friends, but what's the point if I'm not allowed to be myself. Now I see why Brandy left.
She walks away leaving Torie wounded. Torie moves down the hall. Hearing music coming from the Out of Order bathroom, she stops. Moves closer.
INT. OUT OF ORDER – BATHROOM
Abram sits on the sink playing an acoustic guitar as Torie walks in. He mutes his guitar.
ABRAM
You know this is the boy's bathroom.
TORIE
Sorry. I heard the music. You sound good.
ABRAM
Coming from the great Torie Logan, I'm honored.
Torie takes his condescending sarcasm to heart.
TORIE
If you hate me so much, why'd you cover for me in the parking lot?
ABRAM
You're so vain, you know that? It's not always about you.
TORIE
Then what was it about?
ABRAM
An audience wanted a show, so I gave them one.
TORIE
Well, thanks anyway.
She turns to walk away. Abram starts to feel guilty.
ABRAM (CONT'D)
I don't hate you.
Torie faces him.
ABRAM (CONT'D)
Your music, on the other hand, is unbearable.
Torie joins him on the sink.
TORIE
That's because you're too close-minded. Play something.
Abram stares at her. Seriously?
TORIE (CONT'D)
Go ahead.
Obliging, Abram restarts the song he was just playing. Torie sings something and they vibe off of each other. Abram stares at her, seeing her in a new light.
TORIE
Not so bad, right?
ABRAM
It wasn't horrible.
TORIE
Did I gain a new fan?
ABRAM
Probably not. But nice try. I think your ego is big enough.
Torie looks away.
TORIE
Everyone keeps making me out to be this enormous control freak. I just want what's best for my group.
Abram has a reflective moment.
ABRAM
Or maybe you just want what's best for you.
TORIE
That's not true.
ABRAM
Really? Or are you just being a hypocrite?
TORIE
How am I a hypocrite?
ABRAM
Didn't you just say something about having an open mind?
