Good Nights Sleep

As I stare into the starry sky I can see the constellations glaring back.
The moon winking at me.
My mind begins to wander as I close my eyes.
I think about my new found love.
It's going to be a long night again.
I begin questioning myself.
What if she doesn't really love me?
What if another man has her heart?
What if I lose her?
Can I handle another heartbreak?
I need to halt these silly thoughts.
But at night, you have nowhere to run.
Nowhere to turn.
Nowhere to hide.
You're trapped inside of your own mind like a caged animal at the zoo.
You're forced to deal with the brutally honest questions that you try to keep hidden.
Buried deep inside the fortress of your mind.
It's already 4 AM and I begin to feel my body gently glide into a deep slumber.
Finally, it's over.
Until tonight, when the night swallows my mind and chokes me by the throat.
