FLYNN
Could this night get any worse?
ABRAM
I'll handle the goon. You go find Jeff.
Flynn walks away. Abram walks over to Nikki and Vance.
ABRAM
Nikki, can we talk?
VANCE
Excuse us, we're kind of in the middle of a conversation.
ABRAM
Oh, Vance. Sorry. I didn't recognize you. You're so civil outside of your natural habitat.
Vance cracks a smile.
VANCE
Not for long apparently.
NIKKI
It's okay. What is it, Ab?
ABRAM
I know you're used to blasting your business for the whole world to see, but I'd rather talk in private, if you don't mind.
NIKKI
Is this about Jeff? Shouldn't he be the one I'm having this conversation with instead of you doing it for him? That is if he actually cares.
ABRAM
You need to grow up. Both of you. You're acting like infants.
NIKKI
Then maybe you should stop trying to babysit us. If Jeff has something to say, he can say it to me himself.
She turns back to Vance.
NIKKI (CONT'D)
To answer your question, I'm single.
VANCE
Is that right?
Jeff, dressed as James Dean, enters the room with Flynn on his heels. He looks from Vance to Nikki.
JEFF
Seriously? This guy?
NIKKI
We were just talking. It shouldn't be a problem, right?
JEFF
If this is your attempt at trying to make me jealous, you fail. This guy's a loser. You think I'd be jealous of him of all people?
VANCE
Wait, I'm the loser? Which one of you nerds hacked your way in here?
JEFF
Oh, we're nerds? How clever. Who did you cheat off of to learn that new vocab word?
Vance gets up to get in Jeff's face, but Abram blocks his path.
ABRAM
What's the matter? Scared to pick on someone your own size?
They stare each other down until Tristen interferes
TRISTEN
Hey, chill. Let's take a walk.
He steers Vance out into the foyer. Abram looks at Jeff and Nikki.
ABRAM
Upstairs. Now.
INT. FOYER – NIGHT
Tristen and Vance make their way through the foyer.
VANCE
You're just letting anyone in now?
TRISTEN
We're just here to have a good time. It's a dram free zone.
VANCE
The drama's the best part.
TRISTEN
You would say that. I vouched for you. Don't make me regret it.
VANCE
They provoked me.
TRISTEN
Maybe. But that doesn't mean you have to react. You're better than that. You good?
Vance's attention is elsewhere.
VANCE
Swell.
TRISTEN
You weren't listening to anything I just said were you?
VANCE
Not at all. Who's that?
Tristen turns to see who he's talking about and finds Savannah alone with her phone.
TRISTEN
Savannah. She's new. She's not your type.
VANCE
Who cares?
Tristen glances at him. Doesn't like the sound of that.
