I pushed my cart along the endless white tiles, checking things off the list as I picked them up. The shelves were fully stocked, making this trip a little less unbearable. My roommates, also known as my two lazy best friends left me to do all of the grocery shopping alone but it made no sense fussing. I glanced at the list again:

Eggs

Butter

Onions

"Only 3 things left." I muttered to myself.

"Ow." A low voice breathe followed by a string of cuss words. They didn't appear to be directed at me but by the way my cart hit something and bounced back, I knew I was the cause of the issue.

I looked up to see a tall, muscular man bending over and flexing his foot, "I'm so sorry! I should have been paying attention. I really didn't mean to do that." The word tumbled from my lips rapidly and uncontrollably. The man stood to his full height and looked at me, a slight glisten in his blue eyes that were shocking against his midnight hair.

"Don't worry about it." He laughed light as he ran a hand through his hair to push it away from his eyes, "It was an accident... right?" A small smirk played on his lips as he spoke.

"Let's pretend that it was."

"I'm Theo, by the way. I think you should know the name of the guy you almost killed." The man held out his hand to my.

An inaudible chuckle escaped me as I gripped his hand to shake., "Avery." I smiled up at him, "You're very dramatic."

"I aim to please."

Our hands fell and I grabbed onto my very full cart and began backing away. I didn't exactly want to hit Theo again.

"Try harder." My voice was barely above a whisper but the low rumble of Theo's chuckle was all the confirmation I needed, "It was very nice to meet you, Theo. I'm sorry again about your foot."

He picked up a couple boxes of bow-tie pasta before turning to face me, his hair falling into his eyes yet again, "It's all in the past. It was nice to meet you too, Avery." With that, we both went our separate ways and I collected the last three things on my shopping list before I checked out and headed home.
